Shutdown Mode
Shutdown Mode
AS1108 features shutdown mode, consuming only 10µA (max) current. Shutdown mode entered write Shutdown Register (see Table that point, segment current sources pulled ground digit drivers connected VDD, that segments blanked. Note: During shutdown mode Digit-Registers maintain their data. Shutdown mode either used means reduce power consumption generating flashing display (repeatedly entering leaving shutdown mode). minimum supply current shutdown mode, logic input should (CMOS logic level). device need typically 250µs exit shutdown mode, during shutdown mode AS1108 fully programmable. Only display test mode (see page overrides shutdown mode. When entering leaving shutdown mode, Feature Register reset default values (all when Shutdown Register (page When Feature Register left unchanged when entering leaving shutdown mode. Note: AS1108 used with external clock, Shutdown Register should when writing Shutdown Register.

6.4.7 No-Op Register (0xX0)
No-Op Register used when multiple AS1108 devices cascaded order support displays with more than digits. cascading must done such that DOUT pins connected next AS1108 (see Figure page 11). LOAD/CSM signals connected devices. example, five devices cascaded, order perform write operation fifth device, write-command must followed four no-operation commands. When LOAD/CSM signal goes high, shift registers latched. first four devices will receive no-operation commands only fifth device will receive intended operation command, subsequently update register.

order achieve optimal performance AS1108 should placed very close display minimize effects electromagnetic interference wiring inductance. Furthermore, recommended connect 10µF electrolytic 0.1µF ceramic capacitor between pins avoid power supply ripple (see Figure page 11). Note: Both pins must connected ground.
Selecting RSET Resistor Value Using External Drivers
