Product Overview BCM91250E full-length evaluation board with SiByteBCM1250 dual processor SOC. board designed software development developing applications which require high-performance processors. BCM91250E plugged into slot workstation, server used stand-alone device. BCM91250E comes with SDRAM soldered down, Gigabit Ethernet ports network connectivity, HyperTransport(formerly LDT) connector, Mezzanine socket connection daughter cards. Daughter cards access HyperTransportTM, GMII, serial bus, SMBus, generic bus, GPIO signals from board connecting appropriate sockets. more information BCM1250, refer BCM1250 product brief. Firmware BCM91250E board provided with Common Firmware Environment (CFE), which supports 32-bit 64-bit operation. solution initializes CPUs peripherals BCM1250, including cache, memory controller, Ethernet MACs, UARTs. also configures HyperTransportfabric. provides environment downloading booting Operating System using disk, flash memory, network, host boot device.
Operating System Support operating systems provided BCM91250E: VxWorks® version with 64-bit support data. VxMPTM, VxWorks® kernel running independently each core, available option. Developers need Tornado® tools version 64bit VxMPsupport. BCM91250E source form available initially only from Broadcom. Linux® version running 32-bit mode with full support. Full source code available from MIPS-Linux repository with full support MontaVista (www.mvista.com). Development Tools Broadcom supports toolchain. toolchain based version compiler, revision 2.11 binutils supports cross compilation from x86/Linux® SPARC/Solarissystems. Broadcom partnered with Corelis provide debugging access through BCM1250 EJTAG port. There EJTAG probe solutions: PICE-BCM1250 medium-performance probe that connects parallel port NetICE-BCM1250 high-performance probe that connects over Ethernet. Corelis provides powerful source-level debugger that works with both probes. This adapted BCM1250 allows registers internal peripherals examined easily. addition, Broadcom enhanced debugger (GDB) Corelis EJTAG probes enable multi-CPU debugging.
