TC2000 troubled history
32Kbit/s Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation (ADPCM) algorithm (Melbourne 1988) ITU-T (CCITT) G.721 only allows transmission voice band data 4.8Kbit/s. Geneva 1990, ITU-T(CCITT) G.726 proposed algorithm using 32,24 16Kbit/s ADPCM. this algorithm, voice band data transmitted using 40Kbit/s ADPCM. This however, limited only channels (30channels 8/5) when using 2Mbit/s transcoder because compression carried 5/8th capacity (40Kbit/s/64Kbit/s). Attempts transmit channels using this kind system have resulted degradation voice quality (24Kbit/s ADPCM) because becomes necessary discriminate between voice signals 24Kbit/s voice band data 40Kbit/s.
