Overview
PE-PMD pack from Alcatel Corporation provides 100Base-X TP-PMD interface Alcatel PE-MACMII which allows this 10/100Mbps Ethernet used with range 100X transceivers. PE-MACMII also available Mentor Graphics Inventrarange soft cores. required 4B5B ciphering deciphering provided PE100X module within PE-PMD pack using built-in self-synchronizing de-scrambler. This 100Mbps interface module also incorporates 330ms link fail timer. registers within read written through PE-MACMII's Host Interface. combination PE-MACMII with PE-PMD interface intended incorporation customer's ASIC design. Functional Overview PE-PMD pack provides TP-PMD Interface PE-MACMII 10/100Mbps Ethernet soft core. (The PE-MACMII offers standard interface.) This allows linked 100X transceivers. required 4B5B conversion provided PE100X module included PE-PMD pack. transmit side PE100X module responsible converting transmit nibble data from internal transmit lines sourced from PE-MACMII's transmit function block (PETFUN) into encoded ciphered transmit code-groups external TP-PMD devices. Nibble Input Data, along with Transmit Enable Transmit Error, used encode 4B5B transmit codegroup passed TP-PMD device. state machine detects rising falling edges Transmit Enable uses these gate substitution Start-of-Stream Delimiter End-of-Stream sequences. cipher stream generated linear feedback shift register used scramble encoded transmit code-groups. receive side PE100X module responsible converting receive code-groups from external TP-PMD devices into deciphered, aligned decoded nibble data receive lines PE-MACMII's PERFUN receive function. Symbol Input Data deciphered with cipher stream from linear feedback shift register which kept lock with transmitting cipher register means self synchronizing decipher, hypothesis register idle counter. deciphered code-groups then aligned means state machine which examines input stream idles /J/K code-group sequence.
