GENERAL DESCRIPTION
MSM6585 version-up product MSM5205 voice synthesis Mainly improved points improvement precision internal converter, built-in low-pass filter, expansion sampling frequency. MSM6585 does include control circuit drive external memory similar MSM5205. Therefore, MSM6585 connected with only semiconductor memories, other memory media (CD-ROM, etc.) control CPU.

DESCRIPTION
SSOP 7-10 Symbol D0-D3 AOUT Type Description Pins determine sampling frequency. sampling frequencies 32k, 16k, 4kHz selected combinations. (See sampling frequencies FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION selection combinations.) test internal circuit. this high level make open because built-in pull-up resistor. Input pins ADPCM data. test internal circuit. Make this open. test internal circuit. Make this open. Ground output analog voice from low-pass filter. Connect 0.01 capacitor this pin. (See AOUT connecting circuit FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION connecting circuit.) output analog voice from converter. Pins test internal circuit. these pins level make them open because pull-down resistors included. This outputs sampling frequency selected combinations voice synthesis starts stops synchronizing with VCK. Reset pin. voice synthesis circuit initialized synchronizing with RESET VCK. this high level, data inputs disabled synchronizing with VCK. AOUT pins output become state voice. connect oscillator. When external clock used, input from this pin. connect oscillator. When external clock used, make this open. Power supply pin. Insert bypass capacitor more between this pin.

clock rising falling edges reversed between MSM5205 MSM6588, indicated DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MSM6585 MSM5205. Note that MSM6585 cannot accept data MSM5205 controls repeat valid invalid each half cycle, when MSM5205 replaced with MSM6585.

output amplitude from converter max. (4095/4096) becomes stair step waveform synchronized with sampling frequency. output impedance varies ranges from 10kW 40kW. Therefore, determine filter constant that resistor variation does have influence cutoff frequency filter.
