PCO-6130 compact, OEM-style high power pulsed current source designed drive diode lasers, bars arrays pulsed, modes. delivers current variable from 125A, pulse widths variable from <600ns pulse repetition frequencies variable from single-shot 250KHz duty cycles 100%. PCO-6130 features user-adjustable variable rise time control. This innovative feature allows user adjust rise time within range <200ns >5µs means -mounted potentiometer, optimize driver's rise time user's application. PCO-6130 based hysteretic, average current, switch-mode regulator. This type regulator variable frequency, variable pulse width design which maintains current energy storage inductor between minimum maximum level. ripple limited minimum maximum current determined hysteretic controller. regulator started when "enable" line taken high runs long enable high. hysteretic regulator provides large input range high efficiency. shunting switch shorts output regulator until output current needed. pulse generated opening shunt switch length input pulse. pulse rise fall times then limited only stray/parasitic capacitance inductance shunting switch output leads. power dissipated driver until enabled. When enabled, 125A maximum output approximately continuously dissipated driver maintain current energy storage inductor (see note next page more information).
This architecture provides high performance driver small form factor, with high operating efficiency stored energy. 125A output current, stored energy driver approximately Joules, dramatically lower than stored energy comparable linear current sources. PCO-6130 requires user-supplied +24VDC support power, CMOS (+5V) gate signal, TTL-level enable/disable signal. high current output derived from +24VDC input. output pulse width frequency controlled gate signal. output current amplitude controlled PCB-mount potentiometer. current monitor output viewed with oscilloscope, providing straight-forward means observe diode current waveform real-time. protect laser diode driver, circuitry incorporated into driver that disables output +24VDC support power drops below 18V. Clamp diodes incorporated into output network protect laser diode against reverse voltage conditions. PCO-6130 available options. Option (pictured above) mounted air-cooled heatsink. Option provided without heatsink, must mounted user-supplied heatsink cold plate capable dissipating approximately 100W. rugged, compact design high power capability PCO-6130 make excellent choice driving high power laser diodes.
