NAME
Ring
DESCRIPTION
Along with signal, Ring provides connection telephone line. Part Rules require 1500 volt isolation barrier between telephone line other circuits. This isolation must preserved throughout system. telephone company places "Battery" voltage across Ring public switched telephone lines. XEV90C will operate regardless polarity this "Battery" voltage. "Battery" voltage drives milliamps loop current. UL1950 requires minimum creepage clearances distances maintained between Ring traces other circuits. Clearance shortest distance between conductive circuits; creepage distance between conductive surfaces along surface.
Along with Ring signal, provides connection telephone line. Part Rules require 1500 volt isolation barrier between telephone line other circuits. This isolation must preserved throughout system. Connection
/Hint
/Hint, Handset Interrupt, active output from XE2421. This used XE2420. XE2421 /Hint indicates that another device attempted sieze attached line. Handset Interrupt activated approximately second another device siezes telephone line while XE2421 on-line. When Handset Interrupt activated, XE2421 initiates automatic disconnect from telephone line. provides uninterrupted power XE2420 ring detect circuit. Placing volt power insures that CD/RI ouput will operate when removed from modem. Ground provides reference voltage host interface signals.

CD/RI
DESCRIPTION
CD/RI signal performs functions XE2420 XE2421. reports local telephone line availibility presence incoming ring signal. steady-state high, CD/RI indicates that local telephone line available modem. steadystate low, CD/RI indicates that local telephone line available modem either because modem connected line because line already use. When ring signal present across Ring, CD/RI output toggles ring frequency. operates therefore operates even when removed from modem. /DTR active input modem. AT&D command determines modem will interpret activity /DTR. /DCD active output from modem. AT&C command controls when XE2420 asserts /DCD. /DSR active output from modem. AT&S command controls when XE2420 asserts /DSR. /CTS active output from modem. modem asserts /CTS indicate that accept data from terminal equipment /TXD. /RTS active input modem. /RTS indicates modem that host data send. /RXD provides path received data modem responses sent from modem host terminal equipment. /TXD provides path transmitted data modem commands passed from host terminal equipment modem. RESET active high input which intiates modem hardware reset. RESET must active minimum milliseconds proper modem reset sequence. external reset required; none used RESET signal should left open. provides volt power modem. Ring Detect circuit powered Vui.

Notes: ferrite beads which required filtering your system. Without these components experience unintended radiation when telephone cable attached your system. recommend selecting components such ACB2012L-120 which provide minimum ohms impedence frequencies above MHz.
high-voltage capacitors which required filtering your system. Without these components experience unintended radiation when telephone cable attached your system. recommend selecting components such Panasonic ECKDRS471. This pfd, 3000 volt capacitor will direct high frequency harmonics system ground. These capacitors must rated minimum 1500 volts maintain isolation required Part Rules.

XE2420 Commands
XE2420 uses "AT" commands configuration control. This section describes command format lists commands, Registers Result codes. XE2420 "AT" commands have operational modes; Command Mode Data Mode. Data Mode: XE2420 enters data mode after connects with remote modem issues appropriate result code. Data Mode modem sends data presented Transmit Data (/TXD) remote modem puts data from remote modem onto Received Data (/RXD). When modem exits data mode, issues CARRIER" result code. Command Mode: XE2420 enters command mode power-up, reset, lost connection, receipt escape code. command mode modem accepts commands from host transmit data. Appropriate result codes returned received data. Command Line Format Command lines issued modem follow strict format. Each command begins with prefix command line stored command buffer executed upon receipt carriage return. Until executed, command line edited with backspace key. Command Prefix Each command, except command, begins with prefix. either both upper case both lower case cannot different cases. prefix identifies speed parity commands sent modem host. Speed determined measuring width incoming bits. Parity determined comparing parity "T." Command Line Commands strung together single command line characters. Commands executed sequence they appear. Spaces inserted into command line fill space command buffer. carriage return terminates command line causes commands executed. Register allows user select character other than carriage return terminate command line. Command Buffer more than characters, including prefix, loaded into command buffer. command buffer overflows, modem issues "ERROR" result code commands executed. Command Line Editing backspace edits command line before executed. backspace key, (Control simultaneously some systems), erases previous character command line. Register allows user select character other than backspace edit command line. Re-Execute Last Command command causes modem re-execute last command line. This only command which does require "AT" prefix. Omitted Parameters Most commands include parameter which determines functions will set. When command parameter omitted from command string, assumed Escape Characters character escape sequence maybe entered while data mode switch modem into command mode while line. escape character, Register must entered times succession within second guard time execute escape. default escape sequence "+++." Result Codes modem issues result code after each action. Result codes provided full words, digit numeric codes, disabled together. Each result code ends with carriage return when numeric result codes chosen. When full word result codes chosen, Line Feed Carriage Return preceed follow each result code.
