4161 detection Carbon Dioxide
High selectivity Compact size dependency humidity Long life cost power consumption
Applications:
Indoor quality control
TGS4161 solid electrolyte sensor which offers miniaturization power consumption. range 350~5,000ppm carbon dioxide detected TGS4161, making ideal indoor control applications. sensitive element consists solid electrolyte formed between electrodes, together with printed heater (RuO2) substrate. monitoring change electromotive force (EMF) generated between electrodes, possible measure concentration. sensor contains adsorbent (zeolite) purpose reducing influence interference gases. TGS4161 exhibits linear relationship between concentration logarithmic scale. sensor displays good long term stability shows excellent durability against effects high humidity. figure below represents typical sensitivity characteristics TGS4161. Y-axis indicated which defined follows: EMF=EMF1 EMF2 figure below shows typical humidity dependency TGS4161. Again, Y-axis indicated which defined follows: EMF=EMF1 EMF2

Basic Measuring Circuit:
TGS4161 sensor requires heater voltage (VH) input. heater voltage applied integrated heater order maintain sensing element specific temperature which optimal sensing. Electromotive force (EMF) sensor should measured using high impedance (>100 operational amplifier with bias current (e.g. Texas Instruments' model #TLC271). Since solid electrolyte type sensor
functions kind battery, value itself would drift using this basic measuring circuit. However, change value (EMF) shows stable relationship with change concentration. Therefore, order obtain accurate measurement CO2, special microprocessor signal processing should used with TGS4161. Figaro provide special evaluation sensor module (AM-4) TGS4161.
