MAPPING
compliant client mapping SONET OC-192 STM64 into ODU-2 signals (and corresponding 2.5G signals into ODU-1) supported whereby stuff column added every G.709 sub-frame resulting rate expansion (239/237). chip configured insert G.709 compliant stuff -byte value insert user data into this column. values assigned stuff bytes defined either from register chip from external add-drop port. Coverage these stuff columns calculation optional enabled software. When no-coverage option enabled, parity check values calculated standard stuff values were present. direct mode supported ODU-2 ODU-1 with stuff columns enable proprietary mapping with 239/238 rate. Start-of-frame signals provided input output ports enable synchronization ODU.
Rubicon-Metro device supports dual architecture device will operate mode where both encoders decoders working simultaneously, allowing single chip transponder operate mid-span repeater GFEC network.
LEGACY COMPATIBILITY
indicated above, Rubicon-Metro also supports operation G.975 mode. this mode, G.709 overhead processing inhibited direct access non-framing bytes overhead column provided through pins device. device should configured operate 255,238 mapping mode with stuff columns inserted payload. There also some limited backwards compatibility with S3062 device, AMCC's first generation 2.5G device. details this backwards compatibility outlined full Rubicon-Metro datasheet.
CONTROL INTERFACE
general purpose 16-bit microprocessor interface provided control monitoring. interface supports both Intel Motorola type microprocessors, capable operating either interrupt driven polled-mode configurations.
LOOPBACK FUNCTIONS
Near-end far-end loopback supported each client interfaces line interface. This enables line device testing fault isolation. Each functional block bypassed required support application. When blocks bypassed, device allows transparent passthrough client data (assuming synchronous inputs). status alarm signals provided outside pins enable rapid response failure conditions. These include limited LOS, OOF, LOF, Errors, errors. Three interrupt pins, each with mask register provided enable prioritization interrupts timely interaction with firmware. addition loopback capabilities device, Rubicon-Metro also employs unique port swapping capability allowing physical ports device interfaced either side encoders. With this capability customer serial interface either line side client side device. This capability also increases flexibility single board design used variety modes.
