Basic operation functions
F400 family uses planar transformer technology achieve high output current. whole unit switches fixed frequency predictable performance. F400 Brick many standard controls protection functions. Input Power pin1, pin4 Input power Vin(+) must connected Positive input voltage pin1; Input power Vin(-) must connected Negative input voltage pin4. Output Power pin9, pin5 Output power Vout(+) must connected Positive output voltage pin9; Output power Vout(-) must connected Negative output voltage pin5. On/Off Permits user maintain unit On/Off, order properly sequence different power supplies reduce power consumption during standby condition. There remote control available, positive logic referenced Vin(-), typical connections shown "Enable" pin, connecting compatible pin. control signal this pin, according specification, will turn unit off. positive logic version turns when logic high, turns when logic low. unit when left open.
Remote Sense Permits user maintain accurate output voltage remote load terminals regardless line drop. Sense(-) (pin6) Sense(+) (pin8) should connected load point where regulation needed. shown Fig.

Sense(+) must connected Vout(+) pin(pin ensure unit will regulate specified output voltage. these connections made, unit's output voltage will higher than specified value. unit output over voltage protection senses voltage across Vout(+) Vout(-), across sense lines, resistance between output pins unit load should minimized prevent unwanted triggering OVP. When using remote sense feature, output voltage unit increased much above normal rating, order maintain required voltage across load. Therefore, designer must consider this condition. Also when using remote sense function, output power must taken care exceed maximum power capability unit. Output Voltage Trim (pin Permits user adjust output voltage down achieve custom voltage make output voltage margining. adjustment range from -10%. Output voltage adjusted down, connecting Rtrim-up Rtrim-down resistor shown. Rtrim-up makes output voltage 10%; Rtrim-down makes output voltage down 10%. Leave Trim open normal output voltage.

Protection Features
Input Under-voltage lockout Input under voltage standard with F400 unit. unit will shut down when input voltage drops below threshold, unit will turn when input voltage goes upper threshold. hysteretic voltage under voltage protection normally from range. Output Over-current Protection unit will shut down when over current short circuit condition exists.
Output Current
Over Temperature Protection unit will shut down when base plate temperature exceeds protection threshold. unit will shut down under base plate temperature over 105°C condition protect unit from overheating. circuit will turn unit when happens. Once unit shut down, will restart cycle when base plate temperature goes down. Typical Derating Specificatins (F400-48S3.3) (Heatsink information following page)
Once happens, unit shut down. attempted restart will continue indefinitely until over current short circuit condition removed. When happens, output voltage drops below 1.1V. Input voltage almost effect current limit point. Output Over-voltage Protection unit will shut down when output voltage exceeds over voltage threshold. output voltage across Vout(+) (pin9) Vout(-) (pin5) exceeds threshold circuitry, unit shut down which caused circuit, unit will never restart, output voltage below
