I/O-Buffer Information Specification (IBIS) Behavioral
IBIS emerging standard electronic behavioral specifications digital integrated circuit input/output (I/O) analog characteristics. IBIS specifies consistent software-parsable format essential behavioral information. With IBIS, vendors accurately model compatible buffers. goal IBIS support simulators degrees sophistication. IBIS first developed Intel 1Corporation been expanded current form (Version 2.0) through cooperative efforts over additional analog simulator vendors, computer manufacturers, vendors, universities. May, 1993, this group formed itself into IBIS Open Forum, open, voluntary, cooperative association. IBIS Open Forum participation increases monthly. IBIS (Input/Output Buffer Information Specification) provides many advantages over previous buffer model development methodologies. IBIS relies tabulated current versus voltage (I/V) characteristics, rise fall time characteristics, package information, thus protecting vendor intellectual property. This approach provides models that reveal proprietary information about design process technology.The behavioral IBIS simulations much faster than corresponding structural (e.g., silicon) models. Speed improvements times common, methodology accurately takes into account many non-linear aspects design, such forward-biased protection-diode effects pullup pulldown characteristics. Package parasitic specified pin-to-pin level detail.
