Power Management
GM6080 80mA linear voltage regulator SC70-5 package. With half footprint SOT-25 package, this SC70-5 regulator very dropout voltage (from typically 20mV light loads 300mV 80mA) very ground current (225µA 20mA output). includes logic-compatible enable input provides better than initial accuracy. GM6080 designed optimal performance with lowvalue, low-cost ceramic capacitors. most applications only 0.47µF output capacitance required stability. GM6080 designed specifically battery-powered devices. controlled CMOS compatible logic signal. When disabled, power consumption drops practically zero. on/off control required, enable tied input 3-terminal operation. further enhance battery life, ground current GM6080 increases only slightly dropout. Notable features include current limiting, overtemperature shutdown, protection against reversed battery connection. GM6080 available 2.5V, 2.6V, 2.7V, 2.8V, 3.0V, 3.3V, 3.6V fixed voltages. Other voltages available special order.

Applications Information
Input Capacitor Place 0.1µF capacitor from applications where there more than inches wire between input filter capacitor, where battery used input. Output Capacitor with based regulators, GM6080 requires output capacitor prevent oscillation. However, GM6080 extremely stable, requires only 0.47µF output capacitance stability. type capacitor, GM6080 works great with cheap, tiny ceramic capacitors-why spend more? increase output capacitor value without limit improve transient response. Caveat: best results capacitor with resonant frequency above 500kHz. Note that ceramic capacitor work great with GM6080, some ceramic capacitors have dielectrics with less-than-ideal thermal coefficients; this will affect capacitance value over temperature. Tantalum capacitors very stable over temperature, larger cost more. Aluminum electrolytics work their electrolytes freeze -30°C. Stick with Tantalums ceramics operation below -25°C. No-Load Stability Unlike many regulators, GM6080 will remain stable regulation with load other than internal voltage divider. This makes GM6080 ideal CMOS keep-alive applications. Enable Input GM6080 off-mode current practically zero. When enable input (EN) held below 0.6V, internal circuitry powered off. Pulling high (over 2.0V) turns GM6080. When held low, regulator draws only 10nA (typical). Although logic threshold TTL/CMOS compatible, pulled high 20V, independent VIN. Thermal Behavior GM6080 designed provide 80mA continuous current despite tiny SC70-5. calculate maximum power dissipation based output current voltage drop across part. determine maximum power dissipation package, junction-to-ambient thermal resistance device this simple equation:
