Copper Tarnish Inhibitor AavSHIELD COPPER FINISH
AavSHIELD RoHS compliant copper finish that provides resilient corrosion protection cost comparable hexavalent chromium (Cr+6). Although copper naturally corrosion resistant, tarnishes quickly. AavSHIELD inhibits tarnish critical heat sink surfaces maintain peak thermal performance. AavSHIELD excellent alternative expensive nickel plating harshest environments.
CRITICAL APPLICATION NEED: Tarnish Free Mounting Surface
AavSHIELD SOLUTION: Tarnish corrosion byproducts protrude from mating surfaces creating stand-off between device cooled heat sink which increases interface resistance degrades thermal performance. AavSHIELD protects mounting surface from exposure during transit storage providing parts ready mounting. Aavid Thermalloy conducted independent testing elevated temperature humidity using chamber accordance with 1748 which revealed measurable corrosion byproducts after equivalent years relative humidity environment. (Results based Arrhenius Acceleration using activation energy 0.9eV copper corrosion.) AavSHIELD disperses thin coating allowing effective grounding. Independent tests Mil-C-5541 6.1.2.1 showed electrical resistance less than 2200 microhms after above artificial aging. AavSHIELD maintains natural copper color that customers expect while uncoated copper rapidly tarnishes dull brown. AavSHIELD meets European Union (EU) Directive, "Restriction Certain Hazardous Substances Electrical Electronic Equipment."
