M3A-8K02 development board Renesas Full-Speed 38K0/38K2 Group (8-bit)Note M3A-8K02 comes with function, hub, many peripheral circuits enabling faster more efficient application development.
Note 38K0 Group devices come with Function; 38K2 Group devices come with function well hub.
M3A-8K02 consists boards: G01/G02/G03/G04. Each board described detail below.
This main M3A-8K02 board. provides other peripheral circuits necessary development process.
This board ("RFS board" hereon) with built-in sockets mounting debugger (M38K09RS/M38K29RFS). mostly used program evaluation with debugger.
This Flash Chip (M38K29F8HP) board ("Flash-chip board" hereon), normally used program verification with flash chips.
This external universal board, which enables circuit expansions G01. This used integrating circuits included G01. M3A-8K02 comes bundled with four boards. Each board also purchased separately under corresponding part number (M3A-8K02G02/G03/G04).

boards allow user perform either debug evaluations chip testing with simple switch board. Attach (RFS board) main board order connect debugger, attach (Flash-chip board) chip testing. (RFS board) provides socket center board attachment emulation chip debug evaluations. perform evaluation, insert either M38K29RFS M38K09RFS into socket connect debugger (see Figure 1.3(2)). (Flash-chip board) provides socket center board attachment M38K29F8HPL Flash chip operational verification. Because Flash chip already contains rewriting control program, application software directly downloaded Flash-chip board operational verification performed (for more details concerning Flash-chip reprogramming, "1.11 Flash-Chip Reprogramming"). M3A-8K02 power lines: Vcc. line depends operating voltage board line depends 38K0/38K2 operating voltage. user must switch line between 3.3V, according 38K0/38K2 operating voltage. Select voltage value with SELECT Switch shown Fig. 1.6. either (left side) 3.3V (right side). 38K0/38K2 sample firmware, processing differs according value. Please confirm firmware settings before setting Vcc. Using board with differing voltage than firmware extended period result damage chip.

This board comes with up-port down-ports (2). Please review usage conditions described below before setting each port. enable detection self-power mode (external power supply) 38K0/38K2, insert header link Power jumper (3). detection signal assigned port P50/INT0. initiate external remote wake-up interrupt 38K0/38K2, insert header link wake-up jumpers (Wake-up detection signal will assigned either P50, P51, P52, accordingly, external interrupt generated 38K0/38K2 using remote wake-up button (5).

M3A-8K02 enables user reprogram Flash chip (G03) board. M38K29F8HPL, bundled with this board, been pre-programmed with Flash rewriting control program, operational verification with Flash chip done immediately after debug. This rewriting control program reprogrammed with either serial interfacing: Flashwriter MFW-1 (Sunny Labs) Flash-Over-USB (FOUSB). shown Figure 1.10, Flash rewriting control program selected using BOOT-MODE switch (S10 Table 1.10 shows setup conditions BOOT-MODE switch. setting FLASH switch supplying power board (Note FLASH lamp (LED5 will 38K0/38K2 will Flash reprogramming mode. However, board different than firmware voltage when processing Flash rewriting control program, chip damaged. Make sure VCC-SELECT switch (S7) same voltage firmware. Finally, make sure oscillator compatible with system well.

1.10.1 Serial Reprogramming (Flash Writer)
M3A-8K02 board allows user reprogram 38K0/38K2 Flash chip board (serial reprogramming F/W) using flash writer. perform serial reprogramming, insert flash writer cable flash writer connecter (1), VCC-SELECT switch (S7) BOOT-MODE switch (S10 "H", FLASH switch then apply external power up-port VBUS power). Follow instructions Flash writer continue with reprogramming process. Note Multi-Flashwriter MFW-1 (Sunny Labs) Note separate flash writer reprogramming adapter necessary parallel programming firmware 38K0/38K2 boot area.

1.10.2 Flash Over Reprogramming (FOUSB)
M3A-8K02 enables "Flash Over USB" on-board programming 38K0/38K2 Flash chips using function. perform FOUSB (always make sure external power supply disconnected), VCC-SELECT switch (S7) BOOT-MODE switch appropriately, FLASH switch (S9) then connect up-port your computer. FLASH lamp will host will recognize operations with "RENESAS Flash-Over USB." After host connected, application program bundled with M3A-8K02 follow instructions reprogramming application firmware.
Note: This screen appears versions 2.00. Screens differ slightly between product versions.

When supplying power from main board, connect main board through POWERGATE (make sure nothing connected before connecting external source TP9).
