3B34 GENERAL DESCRIPTION
3B34 single-channel signal conditioning module which amplifies, protects, filters, linearizes, isolates analog input voltages from wide variety two-, three-, four-wire Resistor Temperature Detectors (RTDs), providing simultaneous precision voltage current outputs, linear input temperature. excitation current three-wire lead resistance compensation provide complete signal conditioning solution. 3B34 protects computer side outputs from damage loss signal integrity isolating them +1500V peak shielding input excitation circuit from damage from field-side over-voltage faults 220V rms. current output withstands 130V without damage interfaces user equipment through screw terminals Series backplane. 3B34 plug-in, mix-and-match, hotswappable module, easily field calibrated front-panel zero span adjustments both voltage current outputs. Series Custom-Ranging Program Externallyprogrammable Model 3B34-00, enables user configure special input range using optional plug-on AC1310 ranging card, which houses user-supplied resistors determine zero span. facilitate selecting resistors, Windows program, 3B-CUSTOM, calculates resistor values based user-desired input/output ranges. differential chopper-stabilized low-drift input amplifier provides stable gain long-term stability. This enables very excitation current minimize self-heating preserve measurement accuracy. excitation current platinum nickel RTDs excitation current copper RTDs provided create input voltage 3B34. three-wire RTDs, excitation current flows through third lead eliminate effect lead resistance with accuracy +0.02oC/W. Internal multi-pole low-pass filtering with 3-Hz cutoff (-3dB) enhances normalmode common-mode ejection 50/60 enabling accurate measurement small signals high electrical noise. differential input circuit field side fully floating, eliminating need input grounding. Signal isolation accomplished transformer coupling using proprietary modulation technique linear, stable reliable performance. demodulator computer side signal transformer recovers original signal, which then filtered buffered provide low-noise, low-impedance output voltage; this output also drives voltage-to-current converter provide simultaneous current output interfacing versatility.
