MICROPOWER, ULTRA-SENSITIVE HALL-EFFECT SWITCH
A3212 integrated circuit ultra-sensitive, pole independent Halleffect switch with latched digital output. This sensor especially suited operation battery-operated, hand-held equipment such cellular cordless telephones, pagers, palmtop computers. volt volt operation unique clocking scheme reduce average operating power requirements less than with 2.75 volt supply. Unlike other Hall-effect switches, either north south pole sufficient strength will turn output absence magnetic field, output off. polarity independence minimal power requirement allow these devices easily replace reed switches superior reliability ease manufacturing, while eliminating requirement signal conditioning. Improved stability made possible through chopper stabilization (dynamic offset cancellation), which reduces residual offset voltage normally caused device overmolding, temperature dependencies, thermal stress. This device includes single silicon chip Hall-voltage generator, small-signal amplifier, chopper stabilization, latch, MOSFET output. Advanced BiCMOS processing used take advantage low-voltage low-power requirements, component matching, very input-offset errors, small component geometries. package styles provide magnetically optimized package most applications. Suffix `LH' miniature low-profile surface-mount package while suffix `UA' three-lead ultra-mini-SIP through-hole surface mounting.

Chopper-Stabilized Technique. Hall element considered resistor array similar Wheatstone bridge. large portion offset result mismatching these resistors. These devices proprietary dynamic offset cancellation technique, with internal high-frequency clock reduce residual offset voltage Hall element that normally caused device overmolding, temperature dependencies, thermal stress. chopper-stabilizing technique cancels mismatching resistor circuit changing direction current flowing through Hall plate using CMOS switches Hall voltage measurement taps, while maintaing Hall-voltage signal that induced external magnetic flux. signal then captured sample-andhold circuit further processed using low-offset bipolar circuitry. This technique produces devices that have extremely stable quiescent Hall output voltage, immune thermal stress, have precise recoverability after temperature cycling. relatively high sampling frequency used faster signal processing capability processed.
