Demo Car-Kit contains necessary parts full-duplex hands-free demo car, apart from dedicated mobile phone from SIEMENS. hands-free operation feature carried acoustic echo canceller which works subband mode provides fast adapting filter reproduction acoustical environment. suppress noise, noise reduction block included speakerphone module. hands-free parameters optimized medium price range cars. those environments full-duplex conversation provided several volume steps. demonstration purposes noise reduction, full-duplex speakerphone, comfort noise switched result effects features pointed best. evaluation there access registers V2.1 (PSB 2170) SAM-AFE dual codec (PSB4851) common PC's serial port. With coefficient program CP2170 values displayed changed physical units. peak meter, available module, dispayed logarithmic bargraph hexadeximal values. maximal value hold. Because gains required microphone earpiece moderate, extra work done prevent acoustical feedbacks (echoes). soon people start enjoy hands-free telephony whether office signal levels loudspeaker microphone become greater. there would circuitry prevent acoustical feedback, calling partner far-end telephone would hear himself very loudly, especially phone conversation takes place mobile phone, speech delayed echoes extremely disturb person calling.

past when DSPs were expensive, slow weak performance, only possibility prevent echo unused signal connections. This means signal transmission permitted only direction. Either from handset phone speakerphone, other round, both transmission paths same time. this document this method called half-duplex. circuitry phone algorithm decide, which person caller which receiver, corresponding path switched transmission. other path gets attenuation about prevent echo. Therefore possible simulate acoustical behavior room where hands-free phone used digital Filter subtract simulated signal from microphone signal. better image room acoustics, better echo cancellation. performance Echo Canceller benchmarked rate, algorithm needs adapt Echo-Cancel-Filter room acoustics. faster adaptation, better echo cancellation, acoustics continuously changes: driver turning steering wheel, gear shift lever used, because strong break passengers move around, etc. these situations Echo Canceller adapt room acoustics. After short time, echo canceller fully readapted echo suppressor needed. Though comfort noise only needed very short periods time, improves performance car-phone. Noise Adaptation shows it's effect inside car. With this, four parameters adapted depending noise level car. There important parameters: loudspeaker gain total attenuation. loudspeaker gain incremented noise level rises. This makes manual volume control unnecessary. prevent distortion loudspeaker, volume increase limited. total attenuation reduced noise level rises echo masked noise. With this, side effect eliminated. noisy environment, echo canceller needs little more time fully adapt. echo cancel requirement decreased, adaptation time full-duplex also decreased.
