Dual Programmable Current Limit Switch Final Information
General Description
MIC2546 MIC2547 integrated high-side dual power switches optimized loss power switching other power management applications, including Advanced Configuration Power Interface (ACPI). MIC2546/47 cost-effective, highly integrated solution that requires external components satisfy ACPI requirements. Load current management features include precision resistor-programmable output current-limit soft-start circuit which minimizes inrush current when switch enabled. Thermal shutdown, along with current-limit, protects switch attached device. MIC2546/47's open-drain flag outputs used indicate current-limiting thermal shutdown local controller. MIC2547 additional internal latch which turns output upon thermal shutdown providing robust fault control. enable signal compatible with both logic, also used thermal shutdown latch reset MIC2547. MIC2546 MIC2547 available active-high active-low enable versions 16-pin TSSOP packages.

Functional Description
MIC2546 MIC2547 dual high-side N-channel switches available with active-high active-low enable inputs. Fault conditions turn inhibit turn-on output transistor activate open-drain error flag transistor making sink current ground. Input Output power supply connection logic circuitry drain output MOSFET. OUTX source output MOSFET. typical circuit, current flows from OUTX toward load. VOUT greater than VIN, current will flow from OUTX since switch bidirectional when enabled. output MOSFET driver circuitry also designed allow MOSFET source externally forced higher voltage than drain (VOUT VIN) when switch disabled. this situation, MIC2546/47 avoids undesirable current flow from OUTX INX. Both pins given channel must connected together. Thermal Shutdown Thermal shutdown shuts output MOSFET signals fault flag temperature exceeds 140°C. 10°C hysteresis prevents switch from turning until temperature drops 130°C. Overtemperature detection functions only when switch enabled. MIC2547 features internal latch which causes part remain after thermal shutdown until reset pulse provided enable pin. While current-limit, thermal shutdown latch prevents on/off cycling output. Refer Figure timing diagram. flag remains until reset. Enable Input must driven logic high logic low, pulled high clearly defined input. Floating input cause unpredictable operation. should allowed negative with respect GND, VENX should less than equal VINX.

Applications Information
Supply Filtering 0.1µF bypass capacitor from GND, located near MIC2546 MIC2547, strongly recommended control supply transients. Without bypass capacitor, output short cause sufficient ringing input (from supply lead inductance) damage internal control circuitry. Input transients must exceed absolute maximum supply voltage (VIN even short duration.
