MAX9982 high-linearity mixer integrates local oscillator (LO) switch, driver, active mixer. Description
NAME FUNCTION Input. This input internally matched shorted ground. Balun Center Tap. Connect bypass capacitors from this ground. Ground Bias control mixer. Connect resistor from this ground bias current mixer. Power-Supply Connections. Connect 0.1µF bypass capacitor from each ground. Local Oscillator Select. this logic HIGH select LO1; logic select LO2. Local Oscillator Input This input internally matched shorted ground when selected. Requires DC-blocking capacitor. Local Oscillator Input This input internally matched shorted ground when selected. Differential Output. Connect 560nH pullup inductors pullup resistors from each these pins 70MHz 120MHz range.

Detailed Description
MAX9982 downconverter mixer designed CDMA base station receivers with frequency between 825MHz 915MHz. implements active mixer that provides overall conversion gain receive path, removing need additional amplifier. mixer also excellent input measuring +26.8dBm. device also features integrated baluns that allow mixers driven with single-ended signals.
Inputs
MAX9982 input (RF) that internally matched requiring external matching components. 33pF DC-blocking capacitor required input because input internally shorted ground through balun. input frequency range 825MHz 915MHz.

Connect bias resistor from RFBIAS ground mixer bias current. nominal resistor value sets input +26.8dBm supply current 168mA.

Layout Considerations

Keep signal lines short possible reduce losses, radiation, inductance. best performance, route ground traces directly exposed paddle underneath package. Solder exposed bottom device package evenly board ground plane provide heat transfer path along with grounding.

This mixer frequency range 70MHz 170MHz. differential output ports require external pullup inductors resonate differential on-chip capacitance 1.8pF. Typical Application Circuit recommended component values optimized 70MHz 100MHz. Higher frequencies optimized reducing values Removing ground plane from underneath reduces parasitic capacitive loading improves VSWR.
Power Supply Bypassing
Proper voltage supply bypassing essential highfrequency circuit stability. Bypass each with 0.1µF capacitor. Bypass placing 33pF (C2) ground within mils pin.
