Intel® Applied Computing System Firmware Library
Intel® 815E Scalable Performance Board Development includes flash memory device containing customized binary boot image created with Intel®Applied Computing System Firmware Library (ACSF Library). flash device containing General Software BIOS easily removed from socket evaluation board, replaced with ACSF Library flash device, desired. customized binary created with source files libraries included development kit's ACSF Library distribution. kit's ACSF Library distribution available download
Overview
ACSF Library firmware development tool suitable creating custom firmware images. ACSF Library distribution development includes following:
Customizable sample source files controlling sequence desired board initialization
steps
Libraries linking available functionality into custom binary image Sample makefiles linker scripts customizing binary image Standard product documentation flash memory device containing sample binary image created with ACSF Library
ACSF Library appropriate customers need full-featured BIOS. primary purpose help customers developing embedded systems improve their time-to-market providing highly modular, flexible, firmware development kit.
Characteristics
following brief list characteristics ACSF Library:
Libraries were built using tool chain. Users utilize tools build their custom
binary image. Libraries distributed a.out, elf, coff formats.
vast majority code libraries developed using User code that
invokes functionality from libraries also written
ACSF Library switches processor into protected mode immediately after system reset,
only switches back real mode execute legacy code like option ROMs, specifically directed user. protected mode environment gives user much greater flexibility than traditional real mode firmware.
Boot times using images created with ACSF Library usually faster than boot times using
bios.
Intel® 815E Scalable Performance Board with Universal Socket
Intel® Applied Computing System Firmware Library
custom binary image built using ACSF Library usually smaller than BIOS image. ACSF Library completely modular. user does want certain functionality, they simply
link custom binary image.
