Procedure
MAX1427 fully assembled tested surface-mount board. Follow steps below verify board operation. turn power supplies enable signal generators until connections completed:
Connect output 80MHz clock signal generator input clock bandpass filter. Connect output clock bandpass filter CLOCK (J3) connector MAX1427 kit. Connect output analog signal generator input analog bandpass filter. Connect output analog bandpass filter (J1) connector MAX1427 kit. Connect logic analyzer header Output Signal section locations header designations. Connect 5.0V, 500mA power supply VDUT5. Connect ground terminal this supply AGND pad. Connect 2.5V, 100mA power supply VDUT3. Connect ground terminal this supply DGND pad. Connect 2.5V, 100mA power supply Connect ground terminal this supply corresponding pad.
MAX1427 Evaluation
Turn power supplies. Enable signal generators. clock signal generator output amplitude 2.4VP-P frequency (fCLK) 80MHz. analog signal generator output amplitude 1.81VP-P desired frequency. signal generators should phase locked. Adjust analog input signal level overcome cable bandpass filter losses. Enable logic analyzer. Collect data using logic analyzer. Because cable bandpass filter losses affect amplitude received signal ADC, account these losses when configuring signal input generator.

Digital Output Signals
MAX1427 features single 15-bit, parallel, CMOScompatible, digital output bus. digital outputs MAX1427 applied latch, capable driving large capacitive loads, which present logic analyzer connection. outputs latch connected 40-pin header (J5), where user connect logic analyzer data-acquisition system. Table header locations. poor-quality connection lead apparent performance degradation. optimize dynamic performance, avoid using "flying-" "individual-"lead logic-analyzer probes collecting data from MAX1427 kit.
Detailed Description
MAX1427 fully assembled tested circuit board that contains components necessary evaluate MAX1418, MAX1419, MAX1427. Data generated MAX1427 captured single 15-bit bus. default configuration features MAX1427, which evaluated with maximum clock frequency (fCLK) 80MHz. designed six-layer board optimize performance MAX1427. specified have 5.0V 2.5V power supplies applied analog (VDUT5) digital (VDUT3, power planes, respectively. Access digital outputs provided through connector 40-pin connector easily interfaces directly with user-provided logic analyzer data-acquisition system. digital output clock signal available J5-38 (CLK), which used synchronize output data logic analyzer.

Power Supplies
MAX1427 requires separate analog digital power supplies. 5.0V power supply used power analog portion (VDUT5) MAX1427. Separate 2.5V power supplies used power digital portion (VDUT3) MAX1427 data latch (VL) MAX1427 kit. VDUT3 operated between 2.5V 3.3V.
Clock
user-provided single-ended signal converted differential signal through transformer diode (D1) limits amplitude clock signal; thus, overdriving CLOCK input increase slew rate differential signal, thereby, reducing clock jitter.
Input Signal
MAX1427 requires differential analog input signal. MAX1427 features on-board transformer (T1) that converts output user-provided singleended signal source with amplitude less than 1.81VP-P required differential signal.
Note: odd-numbered pins connected ground.
