MAX1169EVC16 (MAX1169EVKIT, 68HC16MODULEDIP, HSI2CMOD) power supplies: +20V 0.5A 0.2A Analog signal source: +4.096V Windows 95/98/2000/XP computer with available serial (COM) port 9-pin extension cable (straight through female male)
Ensure that ON/OFF switch (SW1) 68HC16 module position. Connect +20V power supply terminal block 68HC16 module (J2), which located next SW1, module. Observe polarity marked board. Carefully connect I2C-compatible module MAX1169 board aligning 20-pin connector. Gently press them together. boards should flush against another. Connect power supply between AVDD AGND pads MAX1169 board. Connect 9-pin serial cable from computer's serial port connector 68HC16 module (J3). Install MAX1169 software your computer running INSTALL.EXE program ROM. program files copied icons created programs section Windows Start menu. Turn 68HC16 module sliding position, turn power supplies. Start MAX1169 program clicking icon programs section Windows Start menu.
Procedure
turn power until connections made: Verify that jumpers JU0-JU3 connected pins 1-2. This sets I2C-compatible slave address MAX1169 0x7F. Verify that jumper OFF. This enables internal 4.096V (typ) reference. Verify that jumper OFF. This disconnects analog input buffer (U2) from AIN. Carefully connect 68HC16-module board I2C-compatible module board aligning 40-pin connector. Gently press them together. boards should flush against another.

MAX1169 System
MAX1169 system complete 16-bit dataacquisition system consisting MAX1169 kit, 68HC16 module, I2C-compatible module. complete MAX1169 system used evaluate MAX1169 16-bit, I2C-compatible, analog-to-digital converter (ADC). Detailed Description Software
main window evaluation software shown Figure This window displays voltage code analog input signal AIN. software supports both manual read automatic read operations. I2Ccompatible serial-clock (SCL) frequency selectable: mode (1.7MHz), fast mode (400kHz), standard mode (100kHz). HS-mode I2C-compatible systems, communication arbitration always done either fast mode standard mode. Only data transmitted received HS-mode speeds. software expects 4.096V reference execution; however, this value changed software accommodate different reference value. External Reference
disable MAX1169's internal +4.096V (typ) reference, select external reference mode with shunt JU4. Apply external reference voltage between pads MAX1169 board. After measuring external reference voltage, enter into VREF field software (without volt unit) press VREF button.
