Description
AT79C1030 device combines functions high-speed switch, including packet buffer, Media Access Controllers (MAC), address management, nonblocking switch fabric. complies with IEEE specification, providing compatibility with industry standard Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet devices. AT79C1030 utilizes Store Forward switching architecture manage packet switching between eight independent Ethernet ports. switch records (learning), relation between addresses (including VLAN information) actual ports. Next, switch will resolve (forwarding) destination address ingress packet, then selects related ports transmit packet. device utilizing maintaining address table VLAN table accomplish this task. Using Store Forward, device reads whole incoming frame into internal on-chip buffer calculates frame check sequence. switch then compares figure frame's CRC. CRCs same, switch will consult address look-up table, create virtual link then forward frame. Switch Core uses packet head information perform packet filter, packet drop, address table look priority category, etc. After device completes task forwarding decision, then forwarding information will sent forwarding module. Each port independent forwarding module. module puts forwarding information packets forwarded each respected port. This information includes: packet buffer location size packet VLAN information Four level priority queues employed each port. transmission module fetches forwarding information from these different priority queues according round robin rule transmits related packet. higher priority level queues more likely send packets recorded less likely discard these packets. After resolving each ingress packet, switch engine obtained information perform protocol processing. device supports VLAN mode switch, which means only ports belonging same VLAN switch packets. Overview
Ethernet Packet Reception Transmission AT79C1030 complies with IEEE 802.3 MII/GMII specification. switch supports full/half duplex mode. full-duplex mode, from same port, switch receives transmits packets same time; line flow control performed sending resolving pause frames. half-duplex mode, reception transmission can't take place from same port same time. When collision occurs, packet should retransmitted according back-off algorithm. Line flow control implemented back-pressure algorithm.
switch works 10/100/1000Mb/s both full/half duplex modes. full half duplex mode data rate selected auto-negotiation manually. order support autonegotiation MDIO interface implemented. Receiving Operation device calculates size ingress packet decides whether size packet legal. same time, check performed verify whether input packet data right. switch adds, removes, changes egress packet according related settings. device re-calculates this packet again ensure sending right packet case packet data modified.
