Preliminary Information
This errata sheet provides updated guidelines APEX20KE device configuration applies currently shipping devices only (future devices will affected). APEX 20KE devices operate power sources: VCCINT, which powers core, VCCIO, which powers buffers. guidelines below assume that VCCIO also powers EPC2 device operates ensure successful configuration possible power-up sequencing conditions between APEX device EPC2 device, pull nCONFIG VCCINT connect nINIT_CONF EPC2 device. With this method, VCCINT decline voltage, device will successfully reconfigure when power restored. Figure shows configuration block diagram this method.

pull-up resistor should connected same supply voltage configuration device. pull-up resistors EPC2 device's pins have internal, user-configurable pull-up resistors. internal pull-up resistors used, external pull-up resistors should used these pins. nINIT_CONF available EPC2 devices only. nINIT_CONF available (i.e., EPC1 devices) used, nCONFIG must pulled either directly through resistor. nCEO left unconnected.

APEX 20KE Programmable Logic Devices
Initiate Configuration feature uses Joint Test Action Group (JTAG) instruction initiate configuration process with EPC2 device. This feature supported inserting diode between APEX 20KE nCONFIG EPC2 nINIT_CONF pin, shown Figure Select diode with threshold voltage (VT) less than equal diode effectively makes nINIT_CONF open-drain, will only able drive tri-state.

Application Note (Configuring APEX 20K, FLEX 10K, FLEX 6000 Devices) recommends pulling nCONFIG same supply EPC2 device. following guidelines should followed when nCONFIG pulled same supply EPC2.
successful configuration when VCCIO pins APEX 20KE EPC2 devices connected power-up VCCINT first EPC2 device second. successful configuration when EPC2 device powered-up first, must power-up VCCINT supply within EPC2 device power-up. VCCINT declines below point, following initiate configuration:

power-monitoring circuit board. This circuit will strobe nCONFIG when VCCINT range then high when returns normal operating level. Have microcontroller intelligent host strobe nCONFIG then high when VCCINT returns normal operating level.
