Preparing DSP56824ADM

Fast Static (FSRAM)
DSP56824ADM uses banks 16-bit Fast Static (Motorola MCM6323A, labelled memory expansion. provides program memory, provides data memory. addressed DSP's program memory space. FSRAM addressed DSP's data memory space. on-board jumpers JG13 allow configuration FSRAM NVSRAM program memory space. on-board jumper allows configuration FSRAM data memory space. 2.3.2
Non-Volatile Static (NVSRAM)
DSP56824ADM provides 8-bit NVSRAM memory devices, installed U10, give total 16-bit NVSRAM memory. External Program must configured operation lower program memory address space ($0000-$7FFF). NVSRAM memory automatically decodes upper program memory space ($8000-$FFFF) when enabled JG13. Refer section 2.6.4 Program Memory Configuration page instructions load program into SIMTEK non-volatile portion NVSRAM.
VOICE CODEC
DSP56824ADM analog section uses Motorola's MC145483 13-bit linear codec, installed U17. Refer data sheet included with this more information MC145483. DSP56824ADM 1/8-inch stereo jacks codec input output. Codec output jumper JG11 select separate output load drives. Refer Table page 2-14 description output load options. codec interfaces Synchronous Serial Interface (SSI) provided Port DSP56824. glue logic required. codec clock frame synchronization provided SSI. Jumper allows user disconnect on-board codec completely. Table page 2-13. This frees port DSP56824 other peripheral use.

Clock Oscillator
user-replaceable clock oscillator, U12, provided allow custom configuration clock DSP56824. oscillator speed maximum speed used. (see Clock Input Selection page 2-8) allows using oscillators.

Indicators
on-board Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs) provided. LED1 power indicator that shows when power applied DSP56824ADM board. LED2 debugging indicator. PB14 Indicator Configuration page 2-15 more information LED2. Both LEDs located next power input connector.

Pushbutton Switches
on-board pushbutton switches provided. allows user generate hardware reset DSP56824. RESET line DSP56824 asserted when depressed. asserts IRQA when depressed. located near codec input output connectors.

Four on-board test points provided allow voltage reference connections. connected analog ground. connected supply. connected supply.

Program Memory Configuration
Jumper group selects external program static memory configuration. fastest operation with installed FSRAM, jumper pins 3-4, configure Control Register (BCR) zero wait states. Program memory will then occupy address range P:$0-$FFFF. NVSRAM used, jumper pins JG13 1-2. program Static occupies address range P:$0-$7FFF, NVSRAM occupies address range P:$8000-$FFFF. delay from gating address line with requires that must configured least wait state while executing external program memory.
