This manual describes functionality DSP5636XEVM (Evaluation Module). DSP5636XEVM supports DSP56362, DSP56364, DSP56366, DSP56367 processors. Motorola offers several different software versions DSP56362, DSP56364, DSP56366, DSP56367 processors that supported with this EVM. various versions available support technologies from third party licenses, such Dolby LaboratoriesTM, DTSTM, others. DSP5636XEVM supports DSP56362, DSP56366, DSP56364, DSP56367 processors. following list describes primary features DSP5636XEVM. 24-bit DSP5636x Digital Signal Processor operating 120MHz. 256k 24-bits external SRAM 128k 8-bits Flash ROM. 20-bit stereo Analog-to-Digital converter (ADC), 24-bit channel Digital-to-Analog converters (DACs). jacks analog audio input output connections. Optical transformer-isolated electrical S/PDIF stereo digital audio inputs outputs. 50-pin expansion connector that provides capability expansion and/or substitution other input/output peripherals. This connector also simplifies interprocessor communication between other Motorola Evaluation Modules. MC68HC705C8 microcontroller that performs RS-232-to-OnCE port command conversions. Socketed board ease changing device. MC68HC908GP32 microcontroller intitialisazion, display button controlls.

SETUP OPERATION
SOFTWARE HARDWARE SETUP
This section describes hardware setup software installation which required load, run, debug programs DSP.
2.1.1
SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
Evaluation Module demonstration software consists Domain Technologies containing Windowsstyle user interface debug software demonstration/test code. following steps install software: Insert Domain Technologies into CD-ROM drive. Select setup.exe program. Select DSP563xxEVM from menu. Select Debug from menu. Software License Agreement will appear. install EVM563xx, users must accept this agreement. Click from menu. screen will appear. Enter your name company. Then click NEXT. Setup will install EVM563xx following directory: C:\Program Files\DomTech\EVM563xx Click NEXT. Setup will program icons Program Folder. Users enter folder name, select from existing Folders list. Click NEXT continue. Setup enough information start copying program files. Click NEXT begin copying files. screen will clear Domain menu will appear. Click EXIT.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
This section describes some component blocks within DSP5636XEVM such memory interface, converter, converters. detailed information specific components, such SPDIF receiver U10, refer manufactures data sheet. 2.2.0.1 Debug Interface JTAG/Once port accessed using standard Motorola toolset through header (JP10) board. Connect command converter hardware provided Motorola third party this header debug tools. on-board command converter also allows debugging using JTAG/OnCE port. this case, Domain Debugger software used. RS-232/OnCE interface receives serial data from RS-232 transceiver executes commands sent host computer. These commands perform following: Reset debug mode Release from debug mode Read write OnCE port Read write
RS-232 serial communication performed software MC68HC705 microcontroller. this port, connect serial cable from (P1) Evaluation Module. JTAG/ONCE port used debugging, users must ensure that serial connector connected. Similarly, connector JP10 must attached Domain debugger used.

external memory port interfaced 256x24 Fast Static chip 256x8 Flash ROM. Select SRAM configuring DSP's address attribute register assert line. keep address stable during entire cycle, insert minimum 1wait state operation.

This means that sampling rate 48Khz other rates supported operation. following operational procedure used. 2.2.3.1 Operational Procedure valid SPDIF digital input present then this digital signal sent through SDI1 input ESAI. this case, analog signal will selected. This condition verified illuminated, which indicates valid digital signal valid SPDIF input present which case will lit, then analog inputs will selected. Then output will routed SDI1 ESAI DSP. reliable operation digital signal should connected.

Evaluation Module coaxial input optical S/PDIF input J2.To select between optical electical SPDIF input follow through `Setup' menu display. However some early releases DSP5636XEVM boards only coaxial input operational. optical S/PDIF input available future software upgrade EVM. also coaxial outputs optical S/PDIF output. This outputs will multiplexed between ESAI output channels Digital Audio Transmitter (DAX) port. selection between ESAI output determined jumper JP26. Available jumper settings shown Table 2-3. ESAI output selected, then ESAI ports, SDO0-SDO3, selected according jumper JP25. S/PDIF transmitter receives data from serial data output SDOx line. SDOx configured placing jumper JP25 header shown Table 2-4. Note: Only jumper should installed JP25. more that jumper installed, then ESAI output lines will driving each other. However early realease DSP5636XEVM shipped without host control features display features. microcontroller only used initialize AKM4112A SPDIF receiver PCM1600 multichannel converters. latter release DSP5636XEVM microcontroller configured with minimum funtionality configure EVM's SPDIF input. POWER SUPPLY
Evaluation Module requires input voltage 8.5-9V both analog digital circuits. separate digital analog power ground planes voltage regulators output +5V, -5V, +3.3V, 1.8V supplies. DC-DC converter outputs supply. When power supplied 2.1mm power connector 2-pin terminal block green illuminated. polarity voltage applied terminal block reversible because power goes through bridge rectifier. Note: While voltage regulators accommodate higher input voltage potentials, added heat dissipation required these input voltage levels results regulator becoming dangerously warm. recommended that users subject board power inputs excess 12V.
