Generation Non-Standard CTCSS Tones
MX-COM manufactures several integrated circuits that encode decode CTCSS tones RS-220 standard frequencies. many instances, however, using tones slightly different frequencies desirable. Because these MX-COM switched capacitor technology, tone frequencies shifted simply changing crystal clock input. following five tables list alternative tones that encoded decoded MX165C (Table MX365A (Table MX465 (Table MX375 (Table encoded MX315A (Table Each table lists tone frequencies three crystal values each chip. MX165C, MX315A MX365A nominal crystal value MHz; table lists tone frequencies 1.008 1.024 crystals well MHz. MX375 MX465 uses nominal crystal value; these tables lists frequencies MHz, 4.032 MHz, 4.096 crystals. column labeled "Divisor" each table lists quotient clock frequency divided tone frequency. This column used calculate clock frequency required generate other tone frequencies. Each table also lists D5-D0 program code input associated with each divisor tone frequency group. Each code listed both binary hexadecimal formats. example, encode 70.0 tone with program code input D5-D0 011111 Hex, required clock would calculated following manner:

When using these this manner, must remember following: When clock changed, audio pass band limits will change proportionately. These changes will fairly small, however. example, MX165C using 1.024 crystal, lower limit will change (1.024/1.0) upper limit will change (1.024/1.0) 3000 3072 MX375, frequency inversion carrier frequency will also change proportionately from nominal value 3333 example, with 4.096 clock, carrier frequency will change (4.096/4.0) 3333 3413 proper communication, transmitter receiver must same inversion carrier frequency. best results, crystal oscillator design should drive clock inverter input with signal levels least VDD, peak peak. Tuning fork crystals generally cannot meet this requirement. obtain crystal oscillator design assistance, consult your crystal manufacturer. Operation this device without Xtal Clock input cause device damage.
