General Description
Aeroflex's ACT861X series power supply modules radiation hardened Watt units designed space applications. Using double ended forward topology with synchronous rectifiers achieves high efficiency, Chip-On-Board (COB) construction together with planar magnetics allows Aeroflex provide space quality components down-to-earth prices. ACT861X series full featured single output converters, with filtering, short circuit protection, input undervoltage shutdown, output overvoltage shutdown, overtemperature shutdown, input shutdown control synchronization both input output sides. Other output voltages available upon request. Overtemperature protection integral ACT861X series. internal temperature sensor mounted near higher power dissipating components shuts converter mounting temperature above threshold specified Table When converter cools will turn back with cycling input power required. output overvoltage circuit uses portion output voltage derived power internal logic (the bootstrap supply) measure indirectly output voltage. This voltage sensed, exceeds predetermined threshold converter will cycle nominal 100Hz frequency attempting restart. Control ACT861X achieved INHIBIT pin. This used both internal temperature monitor control module. When INHIBIT shorted IN_COM module disabled. Nominal current flowing through INHIBIT line this time less than 1mA, on/off threshold above negative return. When converter temperature sensor -55°C INHIBIT line will approximately 8.7V; 85°C will approximately 6.7V. This affords user convenient measure converter internal temperature. Synchronization either referenced output ground converter input ground. When synchronization referenced input ground impedance clock waveform, approximately duty cycle, compatible between 500KHz, should applied SYNC_IN terminal IN_COM terminal. This will synchronize switching power converter although feedback oscillator. desired synchronize both power converter feedback oscillator impedance clock waveform, approximately duty cycle, compatible between 500KHz, should applied SYNC_OUT terminal OUT_COM terminal.
