_Detailed Description
MAX3885 simplifies evaluation MAX3885 deserializer. operates from single +3.3V supply includes external components necessary interface with 3.3V PECL LVDS logic. Each PECL input (SCLK+, SCLK-, SD+, SD-) terminated board with Thevenin equivalent (VCC 2V). These inputs driven directly output 3.3V PECL device, such clock-and-data-recovery circuit (e.g., MAX3875). inputs other than directly coupled 3.3V PECL, provision made board couple input. Remove trace between install 0.1µF 0603 ceramic capacitors (see MAX3885 data sheet). LVDS outputs (PCLK+, PCLK-, PD_+, PD_-) differentially terminated with resistors between complementary outputs. Each output directly drive LVDS input high-impedance input oscilloscope (see Connecting LVDS Outputs Oscilloscope Inputs When driving LVDS input that already includes differential termination, remove termination resistor corresponding appropriate LVDS output. synchronization inputs (SYNC+, SYNC-) internally terminated LVDS inputs with differential input resistance. Ensure that LVDS devices driving these inputs redundantly terminated. signal inputs outputs coupled transmission lines. input signal lines equal length minimize propagation-delay skew. Likewise, output signal lines equal length.

Connecting LVDS Outputs Oscilloscope Inputs
monitor LVDS signal input oscilloscope, remove differential load resistor between complementary outputs couple each output oscilloscope input. example, observe signal input instrument, remove resistor from board place capacitor block series with each output (PD0+ PD0-) instrument input. connect MAX3885 outputs directly inputs terminations ground. Choose coupling capacitor large enough value prevent pattern-dependent distortion output signal.
