MicroConverter® Technical Note uC006 4-wire UART-to-PC Interface
Connecting your MicroConverter chip downloading debugging code requires RS-232 line driver/receiver chip step UART's CMOS logic levels RS-232 levels. don't already have RS-232 chip your MicroConverter design, this "4-wire UART" dongle greatly simplify PC-to-MicroConverter connection allowing no-hassle in-system download/debug access without adding components your board. RS-232 dongle header, these pins automatically disable RS-485 chip whenever RS-232 dongle inserted. During normal operation, dongle left open RS-485 communication goes unimpeded. inserting RS-232 dongle, pulled ground respectively, thereby automatically disabling RS-485 transceiver allow RS-232 communications.
