DSP56824EVM uses bank 128K 16-bit Fast Static (GSI GS72116, labelled external memory expansion, shown FSRAM block diagram Figure 2-1. This physical memory bank split into logical memory banks 16-bits, program memory other data memory. When DSP's program strobe signal line used along with memory chip's signal line, half memory chip selected when program memory accesses requested other half memory chip selected when data memory access requested.

Operating Mode
DSP56824EVM provides boot-up MODE selection jumper, JG1. This jumper used select operating mode exits reset. Refer DSP56824 User's Manual complete description chip's operating modes. Table 2-10 shows four modes operation available DSP56824.

Three on-board Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs) provided allow real-time debugging user programs. These LEDs allow programmer monitor program execution without having stop program during debugging, shown Figure 2-7. LED1 controlled Port General Purpose Input/Output (GPIO) signal line (PB8).
