Product Description
California Micro Devices' CM3503 overcurrent power switch that provides power ports. device very on-resistance power switch that provides VBUS voltage output ports with minimal voltage drop. When logic low, power switch connected output VOUT. When logic high, power switch OFF, power available output. power switch full over-current protection. Whenever current limit switch exceeded, device enters constant-current mode, where output voltage progressively reduced prevent current from increasing further. output becomes active only overcurrent condition exceeds least 10ms. This fault blanking delay prevents false alarms from being reported host controller. overcurrent condition severe enough that part heats thermal limit TMAX, then switch will turned temperature cools down. TMIN switch then turns again, device heats again, until fault removed. CM3503 also prevents backdrive current flowing into host from connected peripheral. This occur when removed host powers down, peripheral still normal power applied. from peripheral therefore linked host's VBUS, potentially causing backdrive current into host overloading peripheral power supply.

During cold-start interval when input initially applied, internal circuitry provides soft turn-on switch, which limits peak in-rush current. control power switch. high (>2V) deselect VOUT, (<0.8V) select VOUT.
