Description
Linear B1117 three terminal positive regulator offered adjustable voltages 1.5V,1.8V, 2.5V, 2.85V, 3.3V, 5Volts. output current capability 1.0Amp,. This device been optimized voltage where transient response minimum input voltage critical. 2.85V version designed specifically used active terminators SCSI bus. Current limit trimmed ensure specified output current controlled short-circuit current. On-Chip thermal limiting provides protection against combination overload ambient temperatures that would create excessive junction temperatures. B1117 offered 3-pin SOT-223, TO-252 (DPAK) packages compatible with other terminal regulators. 5-pin version TO-263 with lower dropout volt available.

APPLICATION NOTES EXTERNAL CAPACITOR
ensure stability B1117 output capacitor least 10µF (tantalum)or 50µF (aluminum) required. value change based application requirements output load temperature range. capacitor equivalent series resistance (ESR) will effect B1117 stability. value vary from type capacitor used applications. recommended value 0.5. output capacitance could increase size above minimum value. larger value output capacitance high 100µF improve load transient response. Maximum Junction Temperature range: Tambient (max) thermal resistance (Junction-toambient) Maximum Junction temperature must exceed 125°C.
SOLDERING METHODS
B1117 SOT-223 package designed compatible with infrared reflow vapor-phase reflow soldering techniques. During soldering non-active mildly active fluxes used. B1117 attached heat sink lead which exits opposite input, output, ground pins. Hand soldering wave soldering should avoided since these methods cause damage device with excessive thermal gradients package. SOT-223 recommended soldering method follows: vapor phase reflow infrared reflow with component preheated within 65°C soldering temperature range.
