Features MBH7BT08 Power Class module conforming Bluetooth Specification Version 1.1. MBH7BT08 transmits receives band. Although upper layer protocol stack Profiles have embedded user's host system when user uses conventional module, MBH7BT08 includes upper layer protocol stack several Profiles. Therefore, MBH7BT08 makes possible reduce resources user's host system required process Bluetooth. Also, MBH7BT08 supports Zerial interface over UART. Zerial interface Zeevo's proprietary interface supports AT-like modem commands. 6-1. Host Connection MBH7BT08 Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (UART) interface provides simple mechanism communicating with host. UART compatible with 16450 industry standard. HOST UART Interface RTS# CTS# Figure 6-1: UART Interface Four signals used implement UART function, illustrated above. When MBH7BT08 connected host, UART_RX UART_TX transfer data between both devices. remaining signals, UART_CTS UART_RTS, used implement hardware flow control. de-asserted, MBH7BT08 stops transmitting data within byte. When MBH7BT08 de-asserts RTS, default accept more bytes (i.e., host expected stop transmitting within bytes). UART connections implemented using CMOS technology have signaling levels (+3.3V nominal). Zerial Interface software behavior Zerial interface similar Hayes-compatible modem. Zerial interface modes, command mode bypass mode. command mode, host issue specially formatted text strings called commands. These command strings used configuration manage connection with remote device. Note that Zerial interface does support standard Hayes command set. Instead, commands that leverage vendor-specific command form. Once connection established, Zerial interface transitions bypass mode. bypass mode, data sent from host will sent over Bluetooth link remote device with exception Escape sequence. data received from remote device will delivered host. move Zerial interface bypass mode into command mode, Escape sequence used. While bypass mode, Zerial interface will search this Escape sequence from host. this sequence found, Zerial interface will back command mode. This allows commands issued again from host, connection remote device will remain. data received Bluetooth link will discarded while command mode. While command mode, Zerial interface will send responses back host commands received. Responses from Zerial interface will also sent system reset. These responses sent host during bypass mode. However, possible configure disconnect notification sent during bypass mode. remote device must minimum device that supports Serial Port Profile (SPP). Zerial interface used three different ways. Initiate connections Cable replacement Standalone cable replacement first type device will Zerial interface initiate connections. Within this configuration, Zerial interface used, through command set, discover other Bluetooth devices, initiate bonding with remote device, initiate connection with remote device. Zerial interface currently only supports point-to-point connections. Commands issued through host such second microprocessor. second type device will Zerial interface attach remote device acting cable replacement. attached Zerial interface will accept connections initiated from remote Bluetooth device transfer data to/from attached device over UART. also respond request from remote device bond. Since Zerial interface setup occurs over UART, this configuration requires additional controller. last configuration similar second configuration with difference being Zerial interface operates entirely standalone. this configuration, external setup (through commands) normally available.
