Client-signal monitoring 8B/10B encoded data also provided, well 64B/66B monitoring 10GE-LAN traffic. full 10GE-LAN also included Niagara device support extensive 10GE monitoring.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
AMCC Niagara device wide-area metropolitan transport device aimed next generation applications required transparent multiplexing enhanced error correction capability. device utilizes G.709 frame overhead structures enable deployment full compliant network elements. Niagara will support gain rates, standard G.975 based rate 6.2dB (raw optical coding gain), AMCC's proprietary EFEC code rated greater than (raw optical coding gain). Niagara device capable running both these gains simultaneously, providing superb single chip transponder solution standard gain enhanced gain networks.
SUPPORT
applications which client signal SONET SDH, Niagara generate SONET/SDH both client ingress egress. applications which client signal G.709 compliant regenerator applications, Line Fail un-equipped supported. edge applications, device provisioned provide either SONET/SDH Generic client. This facilitates convergence SONET/SDH functions into single network element.
DATA INTERFACES
Both client network interfaces SFI-4 compliant. Data transferred LVDS parallel data with synchronous clock. Gbps applications, client interface rate varies between Mbps Mbps, aggregate bandwidth 9.95 Gbps 10.7 Gbps. defined parallel client interface 31.25 Mbps (across bits interface) aggregate bandwidth Mbps. device supports OC-192/STM-64, G.709 OTU-2, ITU-G.709 ODU2, proprietary direct (into ODU-2) data client rate 10.3 Gbps. Gbps applications, network side data interface operates parallel rate Mbps Mbps aggregate bandwidth 9.95 Gbps 11.1 Gbps. defined parallel network interface 33.4375 Mbps (across bits interface) aggregate bandwidth Gbps.
MAPPING
compliant client mapping SONET OC-192 STM64 into ODU-2 signals (and corresponding 2.5G signals into ODU-1) supported whereby stuff column added every G.709 sub-frame resulting rate expansion (239/237). chip configured insert G.709 compliant stuff-byte value insert user data into this column. values assigned stuff bytes defined either from register chip from external add-drop port. Coverage these stuff columns calculation optional enabled software. When nocoverage option enabled, Parity check values calculated standard stuff values were present. direct mode supported ODU-2 ODU-1 with stuff columns enable proprietary mapping with 239/238 rate. Start frame signals provided input output ports enable synchronization ODU.

SONET/SDH performance monitor supporting OC192/48/12/ SDH64/16/4/1 rates provided perform optional section limited-line termination functions. SONET signal dropped added.
