California Micro Devices' CM3501 dual port overcurrent power switch that selects between independent inputs available depending state logic input (SEL). device pairs power switches, each pair analog "OR" function, providing continuous voltage both outputs during power transfer beween inputs. main supply, which disabled VSBY standby supply which powered whenever power. When `SEL' logic high, assigned input power supply. When `SEL' logic low, VSBY used power output, current taken from VCC. Both switches deselected switched driving (floating) `SEL' input, which places chip power mode. Both pairs switches have over-current protection. Depending whether `SEL' high low, current over 750mA 100mA respectively either output causes device enter constant-current mode, where output voltage progressively reduced prevent current from increasing further. Each output independent other, switches switched overcurrent mode then will remain switched output becomes active only overcurrent condition exceeds minimum continuous duration 10ms. overcurrent condition severe enough that part heats thermal limit TMAX, switch turns temperature cools down TMIN. switch then turns again, device heats again, until fault removed.

During cold-start interval when input initially applied, internal circuitry provides soft turn-on switches, which limits peak in-rush current.
VSBY lower current power source. Whenever
below 0.8V will selected, will deselected. VSBY power switches only supply 100mA. VOUT1 provides power port. internal MOSFET switches designed voltage drops from voltage input pins their full rated currents.
3-level logic input that used
control which power switch pairs turned high select VCC, select VSBY, allow float deselect both power switches. external device driving must able source sink 100µA while maintaining proper VIL/VIH levels.
VOUT2 provides power second port.
internal MOSFET switches designed voltage drops from voltage input pins their full rated currents. Current loads 750mA allowed (from Vcc). Current loads above 750mA cause constantcurrent limiting circuit operate reducing output voltage. Continuous over-current loads will cause part's internal temperature rise. internal temperature exceeds 150'C then switch that overcurrent mode will immediately turned off. switch that overcurrent mode will remain will affected over-temperature detection. Once part cooled 125'C then switch switches that were overcurrent mode will automatically turned again.
OC1#, OC2# independent, active opendrain outputs, indicating overcurrent fault condition been detected VOUT1 VOUT2. There builtin 10msec (min.) fault blanking period after overcurrent fault condition been detected, before these outputs become active. outputs become deasserted only when both overcurrent condition stops when voltage drop across switch less than External pull-up resistors 100k required outputs used.
