Detailed Description
Serial-Addressing Modes Programming AS1105 done wire serial interface. programming sequence consists 16-bit packages. data shifted into internal register with rising edge signal. With rising edge LOAD signal data latched into digital control register depending address. LOAD signal must high after rising clock edge. LOAD signal also come later just before next rising edge CLK, otherwise data would lost. content internal shift register applied 16.5 clock cycles later DOUT pin. data clocked falling edge CLK. Bits 16Bitprogramming package described table first Bits D15-D12 "don't care, D11-D8 contain address D7-D0 contain data. first D15, most significant (MSB). exact timing given figure Digit Control Registers AS1105 incorporates registers, which listed Table digit control registers selected 4Bit address word. digit registers realized with
32bit memory. Each digit controlled directly without rewriting whole contents. control registers consist decode mode, display intensity, number scanned digits, shutdown, display test reset/external clock register. Shutdown Mode AS1105 features shutdown mode, where consumes only 20µA current. shutdown mode entered write register 0Ch. Then segment current sources pulled ground digit drivers connected VDD, that nothing displayed. internal digit registers keep programmed values. shutdown mode either used power saving generating flashing display repeatedly entering leaving shutdown mode. AS1105 needs typically 250µs exit shutdown mode. During shutdown AS1105 fully programmable. Only display test function overrides shutdown mode. Initial Power-Up After powering system register reset, that display blank. AS1105 starts shutdown mode. registers should programmed normal operation. default settings enable only scan digit, internal decoder disabled, data register intensity register minimum value.

Scan-Limit Register scan limit register selects number digits displayed. When digits displayed update frequency typically 800Hz. number digits displayed reduced, update frequency reduced well. frequency calculated using 8fOSC/N, where number digits. Applications Information
Supply Bypassing Wiring order achieve optimal performance AS1105 shall placed very close display minimize effects electromagnetic interference wiring inductance. Furthermore recommended connect 10µF electrolytic 0.1µF ceramic capacitor between avoid power supply ripple. Also, both GNDs must connected ground. Selecting Resistor Using External Drivers current through segments controlled external resistor Segment current about times current right values given table maximum current AS1105 drive 40mA. higher currents needed, external drivers must used. that case longer necessary that AS1105 drives high currents. recommended value 47k. cases that AS1105 only drives digits table specifies maximum currents must accordingly.
