MINI-BEAM Installation Alignment
Proper operation sensors requires that they mounted securely aligned properly. Excessive movement vibration cause intermittent false operation loss alignment. maximum mechanical stability, final-mount these sensors 18-mm holes their threaded barrels mounting bracket (see page Begin with emitter mounted securely place. small-parts counting applications, stretch string between emitter receiver lenses ensure that sensing beam will pass through center sensing location. less critical applications, receiver initially positioned line-of-sight placement. Mount receiver, leaving means movement. Apply power emitter receiver, advance receiver's 15-turn GAIN control maximum (clockwise rotation). GAIN control clutched both ends avoid damage, will "free-wheel" when either endpoint reached. receiver "seeing" emitter's light beam, receiver alignment should "on". Move receiver up-down-right-left (include angular rotation) obtain fastest receiver pulse rate. pulse observable (too fast count), reduce GAIN control (counterclockwise rotation) obtain countable pulse rate five beats second. Note: alignment short ranges, help further reduce strength light signal temporarily masking emitter and/or receiver lens with tape sheet paper. Repeat alignment motions after each GAIN reduction. When have found receiver orientation that produces fastest pulse rate, mount receiver solidly that position. Remove masking material, increase receiver GAIN maximum. Test system placing object detected into sensing position. receiver indicator should "off". does "off", cause probably either "flooding" "burn-through". Flooding occurs when portion effective beam passes around object sensed activates receiver. Check that object completely breaks beam, that beam centered object. apertures, necessary, tailor effective beam size profile object being sensed. Burn-through refers portion emitter's light energy passing through thin translucent object activating receiver. sensing reduced GAIN setting consider alternative sensing scheme.

Exclusive, patented Alignment Indicating Device system (AIDTM, patent #4356393) lights rear-panel mounted indicator whenever sensor sees "light" condition, with superimposed pulse rate proportional light signal strength (the stronger signal, faster pulse rate). Reinforced thermoplastic polyester housing, totally encapsulated, o-ring sealing, acrylic lenses, stainless steel screws. Meets NEMA standards IP67 PVC-jacketed 4-conductor (6.5') (30') cables, 4-pin Euro-style quick disconnect (QD) fitting available. cables ordered separately. page Temperature: -20° +70°C (-4° +158°F) Maximum relative humidity: 50°C (non-condensing) (current sinking) output MINI-BEAM sensors directly compatible input Banner logic modules, including non-amplified MAXI-AMP MICRO-AMP modules.
