Applications Information
RT9703 high-side, N-Channel, power switch available with active-high enable input. RDS(ON)dd full protection functions make optimized replace complex discrete on/off control circuitry. Input Output (input) power source connection internal circuitry drain MOSFET. VOUT (output) source MOSFET. typical application, current flows through switch from VOUT toward load. VOUT greater than VIN, current will flow from VOUT since MOSFET bidirectional when Unlike normal MOSFET, there parasitic body diode between drain source MOSFET, RT9703 prevents reverse current flow VOUT being externally forced higher voltage than when output disabled (VEN 0.8V). Fault Flag RT9703 provides signal which N-Channel open drain MOSFET output. This open drain output goes when VOUT -1V, current limit temperature exceeds 130°C approximately. output capable sinking 10mA load typically 150mV above ground. requires pull-up resistor, this resistor should large value reduce energy drain. 100k pull-up resistor works well most applications. case over-current condition, will asserted only after flag response delay time, elapsed. This ensures that asserted only upon valid over-current conditions that erroneous error reporting eliminated. example, false over-current conditions occur during hot-plug events when highly large capacitive load connected causes high transient inrush current that exceeds current limit threshold. response delay time typically 4.6ms. Under-voltage Lockout Under-voltage lockout (UVLO) prevents MOSFET switch from turning until input voltage exceeds approximately 1.7V. input voltage drops below approximately 1.3V, UVLO turns MOSFET switch, will asserted accordingly. Under- voltage detection functions only when chip enable input enabled. Current Limiting Short-Circuit Protection current limit circuitry prevents damage MOSFET switch external load. user adjust- able with external resistor, RSET, ILIMIT 210k/RSET range 0.5A accuracy current limit point vary with operating temperature supply voltage. Layout order meet voltage drop, droop, requirements, careful layout necessary. following guidelines must considered: Keep input output traces short possible least 150-mil ounce copper races.
