Application Information
RT9701 high-side single N-Channel MOSFET switch with active-high enable input. Input Output (input) power supply connection circuitry drain output MOSFET. VOUT (output) source output MOSFET. typical circuit, current flows through switch from VOUT toward load. Both VOUT pins must short board connected load both pins connected power source. Thermal Shutdown Thermal shutdown shuts output MOSFET temperature exceeds 130°C 20°C hysteresis forces switch turning until temperature drops 110°C. Soft Start order eliminate upstream voltage droop caused large inrush current during hot-plug events, soft-start" feature effectively isolates power supplies from such highly capacitive loads. Under-voltage Lockout UVLO prevents MOSFET switch from turning until input voltage exceeds 1.8V (typical). input voltage drops below 1.8V (typical), UVLO shuts MOSFET switch.

However, higher capacitor values will further reduce voltage drop input. Connect sufficient capacitor from VOUT GND. This capacitor helps prevent inductive parasitics from pulling VOUT negative during turn-off damage other components during hot-detachment. also necessary meeting specification during plug-in operation. choosing these capacitors, special attention must paid Effective Series Resistance, ESR, capacitors minimize drop across capacitor ESR. lower this capacitor lower drop during operation. Ferrite beads series with power ground lines recommended eliminate significantly reduce EMI. selecting ferrite bead, resistance wire used must kept minimum reduce voltage drop. Reverse current preventing output MOSFET driver circuitry also designed allow MOSFET source externally forced higher voltage than drain (VOUT prevent reverse current from such condition, disable switch (RT9701CB) connect fixed voltage under 1.3V.
Layout Thermal Dissipation Place switch close connector possible. Keep traces short possible reduce effect undesirable parasitic inductance. Place capacitor ferrite beads asclose connector possible. ferrite beads used, wires with minimum resistance large solder pads minimize connection resistance. package with dual VOUT pins, short both same function pins Figure Figure reduce internal turn-on resistance. output power will delivered individual ports, specially necessary short both VOUT switch output side order protect switch when each port plug-in separately. Under normal operating conditions, package dissipate channel heat away. Wide power-bus planes connected VOUT ground plane contact with device will help dissipate additional heat.
