Description: NTE1890 monolithic integrated decoder NTSC color television standards. combines functions required demodulation NTSC signals. Functional Description (Cont'd): Oscillator Detector 7.16MHZ reference oscillator operates twice subcarrier frequency. reference signals (R-Y) (B-Y) demodulators, burst phase detector, detector obtained divide-by-2 circuit, which provides phase shift. oscillator controlled burst phase detector, which gated with narrow part sandcastle pulse (Pin8). burst phase detector asymmetrical output oscillator adjusted changing voltage output (Pin21) high-ohmic resistor. capacitor series with oscillator crystal must then have fixed value. When Pin6 (saturation control) connected positive supply line burst signal suppressed color killer overruled. This position therefore used adjustment oscillator. adjustment visible screen. control obtained changing phase input signal burst phase detector with respect chrominance signal applied demodulators. This phase shift obtained generating shift sine-wave Miller integrator (biased Pin19) which mixed with original burst signal. control circuit required phase shift circuit make chrominance voltage independent setting. This control circuit decoupled capacitor connected Pin5. shifted burst signal synchronously demodulated separate detector generate voltage, affected control. output pulses this detector peak detected (Pin4) control gain chrominance amplifier, thus preventing blooming-up color during weak signal reception. This ensures reliable operation color killer. During color killing color channel blocked switching-off saturation control demodulators. Demodulators (R-Y) (B-Y) demodulators driven chrominance signal (Pin24) reference signals from 7.16MHZ divider circuit. phase angle between reference carriers 115°. This achieved (R-Y) demodulator receiving additional phase shift mixing signals from divider circuit. phase shift 115° varied between 140° changing bias voltage Pin18. demodulator output signals matrix circuits (G-Y) matrix provide (G-Y) signal which applied matrix. demodulator circuits killed blanked bypassing input signals. Matrix Amplifiers three matrix amplifier circuits identical only circuit will described. luminance color difference signals added matrix circuit obtain color signal. Output signals (p-p) (black-white) following nominal input signals control settings. Luminance 450mV(p-p) Chrominance 550mV(p-p) (burst-to-chrominance ratio input 2.2) Contrast-3dB Saturation-6dB maximum output voltage approximately 7V(p-p). black level blue channel compared with variable external reference level (Pin12), which provides brightness control. brightness control range 3.2V. control voltage stored capacitor (connected Pin16) controls black level output (Pin15) between change level luminance signal before matrixing. Note Black levels approximately possible, amplitude output signal reduced 3V(p-p). output signal surpasses level peak-white limiter circuit becomes active reduces output signal contrast control.
Functional Description (Cont'd): Blanking Signals signals blanked sandcastle input (Pin8). slicing level 1.5V used this blanking function, that wide part sandcastle pulse separated from remainder pulse. During blanking level available output.
