DALLAS (May 1996) With industry's first single-chip voltage translator from Texas Instruments, designers PCs, notebooks, workstations, networking telecommunication equipment both low-power 3.3V parts same system without slowing down performance system consuming valuable board space. Since devices usually less expensive than their 3.3V counterparts, developers able bring market most cost effective system using both 3.3V parts when appropriate. Previous CBTD3384, voltage shifting required least three discrete devices, switch, external diode resistor. Because resistance simple switching mechanism, CBTD3384 minimal propagation delay just picoseconds. CBTD3384 offers bi-directional voltage translation between 3.3V LVTTL devices, uni-directional shifting from CMOS chips 3.3V LVTTL devices. CBTD3384 organized five-bit switches, providing bits high-speed TTLcompatible switching.
