Applications SPEC wire dual wall construction which combines outstanding physical electrical characteristics radiation crosslinked polyalkene with excellent mechanical chemical properties radiation cross-linked polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF). result wire insulation system that offers 150°C [302°F] temperature rating, small size, light weight, solder iron resistance, resistance most solvents, fuels lubricants. SPEC wire cable highly flame retardant, nonmelting, does cold flow, though mechanically very tough, easy handle install using conventional tools. replacement PVC/Nylon/ Glass braid type wire cables. SPEC wire offered wide range sizes stranded conductors, standard materials available being silver-plated copper high strength copper alloy. Voltage ratings 600, 1000 2500 volts available standard. Shielded jacketed versions include single multi-conductor constructions flat braid shields where further size weight savings achieved.

Solder Iron/Overload Resistance radiation crosslinking materials used SPEC makes them nonmelting high temperature. result SPEC wire resistant prolonged contact with solder irons resistant current overloads which would melt most thermoplastic insulations. Chemical Resistance irradiated dual wall construction SPEC wire highly resistant many acids, alkalis, hydrocarbon solvents, fuels, lubricants, water, many missile fuels oxidizers. Cold Flow Radiation cross-linking SPEC prevents cold flow insulation recognized problem some uncrosslinked materials. Voltage Ratings Standard available voltage ratings SPEC wire volts (0.19 wall thickness), 1000 volts (0.28 wall) 2500 volts (0.48 wall).
