Precision Voltage Monitor Adjustable +4.5V +4.75V Reset Pulse Width 250msec External Components Adjustable Watchdog Timer 150msec, 600msec 1.2sec Debounced Manual Reset Input External Override
TC1232 fully-integrated processor supervisor. provides three important functions safeguard processor sanity: precision power on/off reset control, watchdog timer external reset override. power-up, TC1232 holds processor reset state minimum 250msec after within tolerance ensure stable system start-up. Microprocessor sanity monitored on-board watchdog circuit. microprocessor must provide periodic low-going signal input. Should processor fail supply this signal within selected time-out period (150msec, 600msec 1200msec), out-of-control processor indicated TC1232 issues processor reset result. outputs TC1232 immediately driven active when input brought external pushbutton switch other electronic signal. When connected push-button switch, TC1232 provides contact debounce. TC1232 packaged space-saving 8-pin plastic SOIC package requires external components.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION Power Monitor
TC1232 detects out-of-tolerance power supply conditions warns processor-based system impending power failure. When detected below preset level defined TOL, comparator outputs signals RST. connected ground, signals become active falls below 4.75 volts. connected VCC, become active falls below volts. Because processing stopped last possible moment valid VCC, excellent control signals reset outputs will remain their active states until been continuously in-tolerance minimum 250msec allowing power supply stabilize before released. foreground mode while background interrupt mode. both modes execute correctly, watchdog timer issues reset pulses.
Supply Monitor Noise Sensitivity
TC1232 optimized fast response negativegoing changes VDD. Systems with inordinate amount electrical noise (such systems using relays), require 0.01µF 0.1µF bypass capacitor reduce detection sensitivity. This capacitor should installed close TC1232 possible keep capacitor lead length short.
