DESCRIPTION: Field reports reveal that spring securing inside handle assembly door latching mechanism short. This condition damage bore handle crossbar eventually make handle turn freely. result handle become disconnected from latching mechanism. Repeat above procedure with other three handle assemblies. handle assemblies proven have proper spring installed, make entry helicopter records indicating this bulletin been complied with.
Part REWORK INSIDE DOOR HANDLES
-NOTEPlace protective barrier material (i.e. cardboard, tape) between vise jaws handle crossbar (2). Avoid damaging crossbar over tightening vise. Secure handle crossbar bench vise, bottom side exposing spring bore. Using drill inside diameter spring guide, drill .063 inch (1.60 pilot hole through crossbar wall. Using drill bit, from topside, open pilot hole drilled preceding step .098 inch (2.489 mm). De-burr slightly chamfer edges hole. Using 3/32 inch (2.38 diameter straight punch, drive spring bottom side crossbar. Turn crossbar upside down vise secure. Take care over tighten vise jaws. From bottom side crossbar, drive spring NAS561C4-8 crossbar bore until bottoms out. Spring MS171526 used alternate. insertion depth should approximately .063 .015 inch (1.60 .381 mm). Prepare small quantity adhesive C-317 plug pilot hole drilled through side handle crossbar (2). Fair with adjacent surface allow cure. Color cured adhesive should closely match finish crossbar. Prepare small quantity sealant C-251 plug bore bottom surface crossbar. Allow sealant cure.

Reinstall handle assembly door oriented shown Figure Ensure handle spring loaded against door with nylon button contacting door surface. Using three screws retained step Part attach escutcheon door. Repeat above procedure other three handle assemblies required. Make entry helicopter records indicating this bulletin been complied with.
