Thermistor Basics
thermistors resistors with high negative temperature coefficient. They produced from high purity combinations metallic oxides. Small sizes, tight resistance tolerances, fast response temperature variations make thermistors ideal precise temperature sensing compensation. resistance thermistor function temperature approximated R(T) Where material constant value) temperature degrees Kelvin (oK) resistance thermistor Usually taken room temperature (25oC 298oK), values range from less than ohms several megohms. Value fixed constant will vary function material composition. Over wide temperature ranges resistance best expressed using Steinhart Hart equation several resistance-temperature points from Resistance Temperature Tables (see following pages attached).
Dissipation Constant (D.C.)

Thermal Time Constant
time takes temperature thermistor change 63.2% difference between initial final temperatures. thermal time constant dependent upon heat dissipation characteristics mounting environment. chip thermistors used under typical conditions, time constant will seconds.
Resistance Temperature Coefficient
resistance temperature coefficient (T.C.) thermistor rate change resistance temperature change. expressed percent change given T.C.(%/ -(B/T Typical values T.C. range from -5%/oC. This large change what makes thermistors useful sensitive temperature sensors.
