Hardware Installation Configuration
This section provides information required install Mountain-ICE card into your specific instructions installing card your computer, should consult operation manual that computer. general should able following instructions.
Important! Mountain-ICE n-circuit emulator contains (electrostatic discharge) sensitive devices. Electrostatic charges readily accumulate human body equipment discharge without detection. Permanent damage occur devices subjected highenergy discharges. Proper precautions recommended avoid performance degradation loss functionality.
Unpacking Emulator Remove Mountain-ICE board from package. Care should taken when handling these boards avoid discharge static electricity which damage some components. aside. Mountain-ICE board must first installed your computer. Removing Cover From Your Computer Make sure power power cords disconnected. should also disconnect other cables externally attached devices from main unit computer. Remove screws clips that secure cover unit carefully remove cover. operation manual your computer should contain detailed instructions removing cover. Setting Base Address base address factory configured 340h. Make sure that expansion boards installed your computer this address. this address already used another device, must change base address that device Mountain-ICE board. wish change this factory setting, table determine proper switch settings some recommended PC-AT addresses.

After selecting free expansion slot Mountain-ICE board, remove cover plate from back expansion slot. Hold Mountain-ICE board firmly press carefully into expansion slot making sure that good connection made. Secure Mountain-ICE board computer chassis using screw hole used holding expansion cover plate. Replace cover computer's main unit reconnect cables devices. Configuring Mountain-ICE Important Note: Before connected target system important determine target volt volt DSP. factory default setting volt target. Section 3.5.2 explains configure volt target. Mountain-ICE contains four internal jumpers. These jumpers accessed removing four screws bottom plastic enclosure removing enclosure. jumpers shown figure Mountain-ICE also contains status LEDs. left voltage status (3V/5V) right emulator status. Jumper used differentiate between volt volt target. This only jumper that most users will need change. When jumper installed JTAG signals configured connect volt target. When jumper installed left side illuminated.
3.5.2 Connecting volt target
When jumper installed JTAG signals configured connect volt target. When jumper installed left illuminated. This default setting.
3.5.3 Reducing noise issues JTAG signals
There three jumpers provided help reduce problems that arise because ringing reflections JTAG signals target board. default that these jumpers installed. three jumpers Jumpers used adding parallel terminator CLKIN signals. When jumper installed parallel terminator connected CLKIN signals. Figure shows terminator connected JTAG signals. important note that your target MUST able drive load before these jumpers installed. cannot drive this load directly, driver should inserted between JTAG signals JTAG signals header.
Figure Terminators connected JTAG signals
Jumper provided allow board level test pins JTAG connector (BTMS, BTCK, BTRST, BTDI) used ground pins allow greater shielding JTAG cable connecting target. These pins should only used ground pins they used your target. Connecting Mountain-Ice Board connects Mountain-ICE board through shielded flat ribbon cable 25-pin connector. Connect Mountain-ICE before applying power JTAG header opposite side connected/disconnected live well unpowered) target system without damaging system.
Important! Connect/disconnect remote to/from emulator card only with power turned off. Failure follow this precaution result damage board.
Connecting Your Target System connects target processor through JTAG interface. target board must built with appropriate JTAG connector. Please note position pin. should used guide connect target. Included with MountainICE system extender connectors. These extenders used connect Mountain-ICE system target, which designed with ICEPACTM. These extenders allow connection JTAG pins ICEPAC header.
