Connecting power supply
Tigris 3-slot supplied with power will depend type installation involved. installations Telco installations with access power require additional power supply Tigris 3-slot function properly. However, router does require power cable which connected power source. installations, Tigris 3-slot requires special power supply (-48 rectifier) convert available into needed operate system. Single redundant power supply options available providing power installations: Single power supply (90-270 input, output, Watts, Single, rack mountable, designed supplied ACC) Redundant power supply (90-270 input, output, Watts, redundant load sharing, rack mountable, designed supplied ACC) Note redundant power supply installed factory, ordered upgrade installed customer.
installations
Either option will ensure reliable performance; however, redundant power supply certain advantages that single power supply does not. When redundant power supply option installed, both power supply modules (see Figure 3-11) operate load-balancing configuration that reduces power output each, thus increasing their reliability. module fails, power front panel goes out, power system supplied remaining module.

logical port realized physical network interfaces acting together (for example, multilink operation). Alternatively, many logical ports multiplexed over single physical network interface (for example, bridging over Frame Relay X.25). Thus logical port associated with: single physical port (when protocols allow multiplexing); logical channel specific physical port. (There many logical channels single physical port.)

common network topology consists several Token Rings tied together exclusively with source-routed bridges. Every Token Ring bridged network must assigned unique 12-bit hexadecimal number range 0x0FFF 4095). (0x0 used Tigris implementation Token Ring.)

Chapter General configuration information
Token Ring without ring parameter server Tigris with Token Ring interface added Token Ring that does have ring parameter server (RPS), there ways acquire ring user ring using token ring ring command. Tigris defaults this value when found ring. Tigris reserved value (0x01000) default ring This value causes application software generate ring based hardware serial number. generated value provided convenience users following simple cases: Only rings being bridged there parallel bridges quick verification being made that equipment functioning. This test should take place networks that might affected misconfigured ring numbers.
Token Ring with ring parameter server Tigris with Token Ring interface added Token Ring with active RPS, learns correct ring from RPS. (Typically, bridge serves explicitly configured ring ID.) However, Tigris with Token Ring interface card, always good practice explicitly configure ring using token ring ring command. This ring must match ring RPS. follow this practice, could lose connectivity with ring. example, ring goes down Tigris comes first, router will absence manually configured ring default reserved 0x01000 value. This value causes Tigris's software generate default ring based hardware serial number. When comes Tigris's default ring will match that ring Tigris will work. Similarly, Tigris added Token Ring first, then another device configured function added, Tigris will work. either case, Tigris must configured command with ring that matches ring RPS. Source routing bridge Bridge identifiers need unique except when bridges link same pair rings. Bridges commonly have default bridge which used until second bridge used redundant link. Then second bridge must assigned alternative bridge (for example, source routing virtual ring ring that corresponds between cluster bridges. cluster bridges those bridges that connected WAN-only connections.) virtual ring 12-bit hexadecimal number that must unique among rings bridged network. valid operational range virtual ring 0x0FFF 4095).
