CY3654-P05 Quick Start Guide
Overview Operation
Personality Board designed connect CY3654 platform board emulate CY7C637xx CY7C632xx series microcontrollers. features this include Most analog strengths matched typical real silicon values. Turn time VREG matched typical silicon. target adapter boards. SOIC adapters available from third party vendors. Flex cable easy connection your target system. supply power self powered/standalone devices. PS/2 cables included Application board included (please CY3644 Application Board Manual more details) Integration with CYDB debugger environment.
Emulation Characteristics
Personality Board emulates most analog characteristics. These modes include low, medium, strong sink, well resistive source. exception this strong source mode which been made stronger because effect flex cable board capacitance when running 2Mbit/s. Please note that solve this problem strong source resistance been made over four times stronger than typical silicon order match typical rise times your using real silicon. your final target system with capacitance this data rate will problem real silicon. Unlike microcontroller that switch between CMOS thresholds, personality board only level input thresholds. However, like microcontroller will drive CMOS levels. While emulating target microcontroller, notice that when download program reset emulator using CYDB, connection will reset. This because VREG disabled high impedance state, disconnecting pull resistor. Using this feature should never have physically plug unplug from host, because pull resistor effectively does that you.
Target Power Supply
jumper (next flex cable headers) should normally left open. wish power your system using emulator close this jumper connection. Please note that should only plan supplying absolute maximum 100mA your target system using power supply. reset-able fuse installed disconnect power from personality board your target system case short circuit much current draw.
Attachment Components
attachment well flex cable connections shown figure 1.0. personality board keyed that there only correctly attach this board CY3654 platform board. flex cable then connects headers shown bottom left personality board with flex cable extending away from board. Please note that flex cable keyed should connected backward, otherwise damage result. target board adapter should then 05/30/00
