Ultra-Low-Power Series Voltage Reference
MAX6129 micropower, low-dropout bandgap voltage reference combines ultra-low supply current drift miniature 5-pin SOT23 surface-mount package that uses less board space than comparable devices package. This series-mode voltage reference sources sinks load current. wide 2.5V 12.6V supply range, ultra-low 5.25µA (max) supply current, 200mV dropout voltage make these devices ideal battery-operated systems. initial accuracy 0.4% 40ppm/°C (max) temperature coefficient make MAX6129 suitable precision applications. Additionally, internal compensation capacitor eliminates need external compensation capacitor ensures stability with load capacitances 10µF. MAX6129 provides output voltages 2.048V, 2.5V, 3.3V, 4.096V, MAX6129 available 5-pin SOT23 package form.

Supply Current
quiescent supply current series-mode MAX6129 very small, 5.25µA (max), very stable against changes supply voltage with only 1.5µA/V (max) variation with supply voltage. MAX6129 family draws load current from input voltage source only when required, supply current wasted efficiency maximized input voltages. This improved efficiency reduces power dissipation extends battery life.

Applications Information
Input Bypassing
MAX6129 does require input bypass capacitor. improved transient performance, bypass input ground with 0.1µF ceramic capacitor. Place capacitor close possible.
Output Thermal Hysteresis
Output thermal hysteresis change output voltage +25°C before after device cycled over entire operating temperature range. Hysteresis caused differential package stress appearing across device.
Load Capacitance
MAX6129 does require output capacitor stability. MAX6129 stable driving capacitive loads from 100pF 0.1µF 10µF when sourcing current from 0.4µF when sinking current. applications where load supply experience step changes, output capacitor reduces amount overshoot (undershoot) improves circuit's transient response. Many applications require external capacitor, MAX6129 offers significant advantage applications where board space critical.
Temperature Coefficient Operating Temperature Range 1LSB Maximum Error
data converter application, reference voltage converter must stay within certain limit keep error data converter smaller than resolution limit through operating temperature range. Figure shows maximum allowable reference voltage temperature coefficient keep conversion error less than 1LSB, function operating temperature range (TMAX TMIN) with converter resolution parameter. graph assumes reference-voltage temperature coefficient only parameter affecting accuracy.
